The delegation of the Ministry of Health and Bach Mai Hospital visited and presented gifts to the Lao Cai health sector

At the meeting, representatives of Lao Cai Department of Health informed about the impacts of storm No. 3 on Lao Cai's health sector and the work to overcome the consequences, and at the same time made some support proposals for Bach Mai Hospital.

The impact of storm No. 3 caused the Lao Cai health sector to have 24 regional medical stations/clinics flooded; walls cracked, fences collapsed; slopes collapsed causing subsidence; medical examination and treatment equipment, medicine cabinets... were swept away and damaged...

Currently, 21 regional health stations and clinics have recovered and resumed medical examination and treatment.

Three medical stations in Tan Duong, Pho Rang, and Viet Tien communes (Bao Yen district) were flooded. Repairs have been organized, but medical examination and treatment equipment was severely damaged.

415 families of medical staff were affected by flooding and landslides caused by storm No. 3, many families had to evacuate completely and suffered heavy economic losses...

At the meeting, Comrade Giang Thi Dung, Vice Chairman of Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee expressed her respect to the Ministry of Health and Bach Mai Hospital for the Lao Cai health sector.

The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee affirmed that the impact of storm No. 3 on the health sector is not small, however, the health sector will soon recover and rebuild to ensure the work of caring for and protecting the health of people in the area.

Deputy Minister of Health Le Duc Luan expressed his sympathy with the Lao Cai health sector and encouraged medical units and families of medical staff affected by storm No. 3.

He hoped that the Lao Cai health sector would take advantage of the support of Bach Mai Hospital, especially in training human resources to bring long-term effectiveness, improve the medical examination and treatment capacity of the medical team, and have a detailed and specific plan according to the needs. Quickly overcome the consequences to stabilize production and people's lives, promote efficiency to bring many benefits to the people, and help Lao Cai people soon access modern medical services.

On this occasion, the delegation presented gifts, medicines, medical supplies and decided to exempt all tuition fees for Lao Cai province's medical staff studying at Bach Mai Hospital, worth 6 billion VND; and awarded 500 million VND to Lao Cai Province's Department of Health to overcome flood damage after storm No.
