'Doctor' suspected of using fake degree to examine more than 4,500 patients, Ca Mau transfers to police for investigation

The Ca Mau Department of Health said it has transferred the case of a 'doctor' using an illegal degree to examine more than 4,500 people to the police for verification; if a fake degree is used, it will be handled according to regulations.

On October 12, a leader of the Department of Health of Ca Mau province said that he had reported the case of a "doctor" using an illegal license to examine and treat more than 4,500 patients to the Provincial People's Committee and Police.

"The police will verify whether the above case is a fake certificate or not. When the results are available, we will handle it according to regulations. Based on the information, we see that it is fake, but we cannot conclude yet because we are waiting for the police to investigate," said the department leader.

As reported by Tuoi Tre Online , the Social Insurance of Ca Mau province has sent a report to the authorities about the case of Mr. Nguyen Xuan Hung, who was determined to have used an illegal diploma to practice medicine at the Saigon Medical Clinic, Ho Thi Ky commune, Ca Mau province.

According to the report, Mr. Hung worked at this clinic from January 2025 to May 2025 and examined 4,544 patients, with a total cost of more than 1.3 billion VND.

Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy also sent a document to the Department of Health of Ca Mau province confirming that the first-level specialist degree in internal medicine that Mr. Nguyen Xuan Hung provided was not in the school's training and degree database.

After being discovered to have an invalid diploma, Mr. Hung quit his job at the above facility.
