Vinh Thanh has more than 6,000 hectares of agricultural land, accounting for over 80% of the total commune area, mainly rice growing area. The commune has invested in 24 electric pumping stations attached to a closed dike system, ensuring drainage during the rainy season and providing fresh water for production in the dry season. This is a favorable condition for farmers to produce rice 3 crops/year, bringing a stable economy .

Mr. Nguyen Van Chien, Tuong 3A hamlet, said: "Farmers' rice cultivation is very favorable, every year rice productivity is always high and stable. Thanks to the pumping station system and dyke system, rice fields no longer experience flooding in the rainy season or water shortage in the dry season.

When water is guaranteed, rice plants grow better and yield higher yields. In addition, centralized pumping helps farmers reduce pumping costs, saving significantly on production costs."

Along with rice, vegetables are also the strength of the commune. Recently, the movement to renovate mixed gardens to develop vegetables with high economic value has been actively responded by people, bringing significant profits.

The whole commune currently has nearly 100 hectares of vegetables, mainly pennywort and water celery. On average, each day, the commune's vegetable growing area supplies about 30 tons to traders at wholesale markets in and outside the province, especially in Ho Chi Minh City, contributing to creating a stable source of income all year round for the people.

Mr. Tran Van Dung, Tuong Thang B hamlet, said: "Over the past years, the effectiveness of the pennywort and water celery growing model has helped farmers in the commune earn a significant income. On average, each hectare of pennywort or water celery growing brings in about 100 million VND/year."

Along with production, agricultural services have also developed strongly. Accordingly, the work of harvesting, classifying, and processing celery and pennywort creates jobs for local workers, helping many households have a stable income.

The advantage of agricultural production area not only ensures abundant rice and vegetable output, but also contributes to the formation of large raw material areas, creating conditions for the commune to link up to consume products and develop large-scale safe agricultural production chains. This gradually increases the value of local agricultural products.

Towards green agriculture

Vinh Thanh commune focuses on green agricultural production, in a modern direction to promptly grasp domestic and foreign consumer trends.

Accordingly, the commune currently has over 50% of the safe rice production area; formed an organic rice production area of ​​over 20 hectares; linked with companies inside and outside the province to consume over 40% of the total rice production area.

Mr. Truong Hoang Lil, Chairman of Vinh Thanh Commune People's Committee, said that Vinh Thanh Commune was selected by the province to implement a pilot model of high-quality, low-emission rice cultivation. The model achieved positive results: rice achieved high productivity, reduced production costs and increased profits for farmers. Rice was produced in a safe, low-emission direction, creating a basis for increasing selling prices thanks to fully meeting the requirements of traceability and certification of safe production. This is an important foundation to help the commune continue to implement and achieve the goals of building green agriculture in the coming time. "Focus on expanding vegetable production areas, especially water celery and pennywort in a safe direction, aiming to build a geographical indication brand associated with high-quality rice products, water celery and pennywort (striving to reach about 50% of the production area); expanding the model of high-quality, low-emission rice production (striving to reach about 30% of the production area); linking production and product consumption (striving to reach over 80% of the production area)", Mr. Truong Hoang Lil informed.

To achieve the above goals, the locality actively mobilizes and encourages farmers to participate in cooperatives and cooperatives; supports the transfer and application of science and technology, and digital transformation in production. Especially the application of mechanization in the stages of high-quality rice production, contributing to changing production thinking, improving productivity and quality of agricultural products, gradually developing the commune's agriculture in a modern and sustainable direction.
