On the afternoon of November 13, 2024, the delegation of the Academy of Journalism and Communication visited and worked with the leaders of the Lao Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism . The delegation was received by Mr. Phosy Keo-ma-nit-thong, Deputy Minister of the Lao Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism, and representatives of the leaders of relevant Departments and Offices.

At the meeting, Mr. Phosy Keomanithong highly appreciated the exchange and cooperation activities between the two sides, especially the support from the Vietnamese Government in building a team of Lao press personnel, contributing to the socio -economic development of the country. He also emphasized that the information and communication sector in Laos still needs further support in building a team of human resources with sufficient knowledge and skills suitable for practical work, especially in issues such as news production, reporting from the field; analyzing, identifying, handling fake news, misinformation and building training programs for Lao press personnel.Dr. Nguyen Duc Toan, Deputy Director of the Academy, discussed with Mr. Phosy Keomanithong, Deputy Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism of Laos about cooperation opportunities between the two sides.
In an open and cooperative atmosphere, Dr. Nguyen Duc Toan, Deputy Director of the Academy of Journalism and Communication, expressed his gratitude to the leaders of the Lao Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism for taking the time to welcome the delegation. He also shared about the cooperation activities between the Academy of Journalism and Communication and the Lao Institute of Information, Culture and Tourism in recent times, especially the journalism training courses organized since 2012, helping to improve the professional qualifications of Lao press and media staff. To date, the Academy has organized 8 training courses, granting certificates to 162 students. Most recently, the 2024 training course on press management for Lao press managers was organized with 15 students participating. Based on the results of the class summary and the wishes of the students, the Academy of Journalism and Communication and the Institute of Information, Culture and Tourism proposed to increase the number of classes and shorten the duration of the courses to better meet the needs of Lao press agencies, as well as the topics that need to be focused on for the training classes to meet the requirements of the students. At the end of the meeting, Mr. Phosy Keomanithong fully agreed with the proposals of the Academy and promised to fully support the contents that both sides had agreed and proposed.
