For many days now, people living in the Mai Hac De and Y Ngong streets (Tan Thanh ward, Buon Ma Thuot city, Dak Lak province) have been upset about the sidewalks on these two streets being fenced off with corrugated iron by a business to carry out a project. There is no walkway, so pedestrians have to walk on the road, posing a potential traffic safety risk.

It is known that the enterprise that fenced off and occupied the sidewalk of Ecopark Hai Duong Investment Joint Stock Company is implementing a project of a commercial center - hotel - housing complex at 02 Mai Hac De.
According to records, at the beginning of Mai Hac De and Y Ngong streets , the first section of the route, the enterprise has erected a corrugated iron fence about 2 - 2.5m high, stretching hundreds of meters along Mai Hac De and Y Ngong streets. The corrugated iron fence system is fixed with a tightly welded iron frame, covering the entire sidewalk about 3m wide, completely occupying the pedestrian walkway.

At the construction site on Mai Hac De Street, dozens of private cars and workers' vehicles were parked, encroaching on part of the roadway, narrowing traffic lanes, causing slight congestion during rush hours.

Mr. Hoang Van Thoai (residing in Tan Thanh ward) was upset: “Businesses encroach on the entire sidewalk, so I and many others have to walk on the street or cross to the opposite side to be able to walk. This is very dangerous, especially during rush hour.”
Speaking to SGGP reporters, Mr. Hach Xuan Vinh, Chairman of Tan Thanh Ward People's Committee, said that the ward had received feedback from residents and conducted a field inspection. Thereby, it was determined that the construction enterprise had not been licensed to use the sidewalk. On June 4, the ward People's Committee coordinated with the Department of Construction and the Department of Economics , Infrastructure and Urban Areas of Buon Ma Thuot City to work with the representative of the project investor.

“The inspection team requested that the business complete the sidewalk rental application before June 11, and arrange a safe walkway for people. We are waiting for further instructions from higher authorities,” said Mr. Vinh.

Mr. Nguyen Dinh Toan, Deputy Head of the Economic, Infrastructure and Urban Department of Buon Ma Thuot City confirmed that the enterprise that fenced off and encroached on the sidewalk on Mai Hac De and Y Ngong streets is Ecopark Hai Duong Investment Joint Stock Company. However, this enterprise has not yet completed the sidewalk rental procedures as prescribed.
“We have asked the company to complete the procedures today (June 12). If the deadline is exceeded and the regulations are not followed, the Department will coordinate with the local authorities to handle the sidewalk encroachment,” Mr. Toan affirmed.
