Export businesses continue to grow

Báo Công thươngBáo Công thương12/05/2024

The export market is gradually recovering thanks to reduced inventories and increased demand for goods, which is expected to be the foundation for Vietnamese export enterprises to make a breakthrough. Mr. Nguyen Dinh Tung - General Director of T&T Vina Company said that the enterprise has just successfully signed many large and long-term orders.

Accordingly, each week the enterprise will export 2 containers of fresh coconut to the Dubai market, 1 container of seedless lemon and dragon fruit each week to the Oman market.

"These are highly stable orders. When we harvest the goods, we can distribute them to the entire market, instead of selecting goods for export and then having to sell the rest as before," Mr. Tung emphasized, adding that the more difficult the general market is, the more the demand for vegetables and fruits increases. The export turnover of vegetables and fruits in the first 4 months of the year was very good, especially with durian exported to China, or grapefruit to New Zealand, Australia, the US, etc.

Textile and garment exports grow again

Gradually overcoming the difficulties of a lack of orders from the end of 2022 to the end of 2023, since the beginning of the year, textile and garment export orders have grown again. Mr. Pham Van Viet - Chairman of Viet Thang Jean Company, said that since the beginning of the year, export orders at this enterprise have recovered and grown well compared to the same period last year.

According to Mr. Viet, not only Viet Thang Jean, but also enterprises in the textile and garment industry have recorded an increase in export orders. The reason is that the markets have recovered, the inventories of buyers have fallen below the minimum level, so they have started importing goods again. Thanks to that, the purchasing power in the four traditional markets of the Vietnamese textile and garment industry has increased.

Regarding the wood industry, Mr. Dien Quang Hiep, General Director of Minh Phat 2 Company, acknowledged that major markets such as the US and Europe are showing many positive signs as demand for goods gradually increases again. This has boosted export orders, including wood and wood products. In the first 4 months of 2024, the wood industry's export activities recorded a positive growth rate, about 65 - 70% compared to 2022. With the current growth momentum, it is forecasted that the wood industry will have many positive prospects in 2024.

However, Mr. Hiep also noted that the main export markets of the wood industry increasingly require strict control of wood origin to ensure legality, not affecting degradation, deforestation, green production, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, etc. Along with that, the increasing risk of trade fraud and counterfeiting of product origin is also a big challenge for wooden furniture exporting enterprises.

And for the wood industry to develop sustainably, in addition to meeting regulations and standards on origin and environment, businesses must focus on investing in design, innovation, and increasing the added value of products. “Businesses need to invest in new technology and digital transformation to develop new products and services, improve competitiveness, increase efficiency and productivity,” said Mr. Hiep.
