On the afternoon of October 14, the Department of Tourism of Da Nang City held a conference to evaluate tourism activities in the first 9 months of 2024, discuss key tasks and solutions for the fourth quarter of 2024 and 2025. Comrade Nguyen Van Quang, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the City Party Committee, Head of the National Assembly Delegation of Da Nang, attended and chaired the conference.
According to the report of the Da Nang Department of Tourism, in the first 9 months of the year, the total number of visitors is estimated at 8.67 million, an increase of 33% over the same period in 2023, equal to 163% of the same period in 2019.
Of which, international visitors are estimated to reach more than 3.17 million, up 30%, equal to 134% over the same period in 2019; Revenue from accommodation, food and beverage, and travel in the first 9 months of 2024 is estimated to reach more than 26 trillion VND, up 26%, equal to 135% over the same period in 2019; of which, revenue from accommodation and travel is estimated to reach more than 13 trillion VND, up 37%, equal to 152% over the same period in 2019.
Regarding the structure of international visitors, compared to 2019, the proportion of visitors from Korea, China, Thailand, and Japan all decreased, especially the Korean market decreased by 8.5% and China decreased by 13.6%. Offsetting this decrease was the growth of some new markets: Taiwan (China) increased by 8.1%, India increased by 4.2%, Australia increased by 1.1%, Russia increased by 1.4%...
This reality reflects the shift of some traditional tourist markets to new destinations, and also clearly demonstrates the effectiveness of the policy of diversifying the international tourist market with efforts to promote and seek market expansion;
Restore and develop direct international flights, increase the organization of festivals and events to attract visitors and communication work, promote the city's destination of Da Nang... to maintain and increase the number of tourists to Da Nang.
The top 10 international tourist markets are as follows: South Korea (accounting for 41.3%), Taiwan (China), Thailand, China, India, USA, Japan, Malaysia, Australia, Russia.
Da Nang tourism industry also pointed out difficulties and challenges for the industry such as international economic and political fluctuations, natural disasters, epidemics, climate change, and global economic recession.
Competition for international destinations is very strong from Thailand and China; new tourism products are lacking, water entertainment activities and waterway tourism have not developed commensurate with their potential...
In 2025, Da Nang expects the total number of visitors to reach over 10.5 million, an increase of 6% compared to 2024. Of which, international visitors are estimated to reach 4.3 million, an increase of 11%, and domestic visitors are estimated to reach over 6.2 million. Revenue from accommodation, food and beverage, and travel in 2025 is estimated to reach 40.7 trillion VND, an increase of 11% compared to 2024. |
Meanwhile, many businesses and travel agencies have proposed solutions to help the tourism industry continue to develop and maintain its leading destination brand. To maintain its brands, Da Nang tourism industry needs to innovate its growth model; renew existing products; improve the quality of existing accommodation facilities, service activities, and events; and create new products.
The tourism industry is requested to promptly consult to adjust the tourism development strategy of Da Nang city to 2030 with a vision to 2045 in line with the city's development orientation recently approved by the National Assembly; at the same time, promote digital transformation in the entire tourism industry.
