Ms. Ly Thi Di, Tu Ha village, Nam Xe commune, Van Ban district (Mother of Vang A Dong) shared: “When my child was born, his limbs were like that. When I went to the doctor, the joints did not join together. The doctors said he had muscle wasting and malnutrition. I had no money to treat him, so I just stayed home to take care of him like that. I had to carry him everywhere I went. Before, I thought he could not go to school, but the teachers encouraged him to go. Luckily, the teachers and friends loved him and carried him there and back. I also felt secure.”

Vang A Dong could not stand up to speak like his friends. It was with great difficulty that his weak hands could write a single stroke. But the eyes of this 6-year-old boy were always full of determination and willpower.

“I really like going to school because I have my teacher and my friends. My teacher teaches me math and how to write,” Vang A Dong shared.

Teacher Tran Thi Doa, a teacher at Nam Xe Primary Boarding School, Van Ban District, said: “I flexibly arranged suitable seats for him and designed lessons that suited his abilities. I also asked him what he liked, and Dong wanted to integrate with all his friends so that he could feel comfortable. I loved him very much and always paid special attention to him. At home he had his mother and in class he had his teachers.”

Although not receiving boarding benefits, Vang A Dong still has the opportunity to eat lunch at school with his friends. Having a full meal and gathering with friends is Dong's daily joy.

“The teachers have just launched a campaign to buy a wheelchair for him, each person contributing a little money.
