U.23 Vietnam lineup to play Laos: Van Khang captain, Ly Duc starting, Le Viktor on the bench

Coach Kim Sang-sik has finalized the starting lineup of U.23 Vietnam in the opening match against U.23 Laos at 5:00 p.m. today (July 19).

The starting lineup of U.23 Vietnam in the opening match against U.23 Laos (5:00 p.m. on July 19) in Group B of the 2025 Southeast Asian U.23 tournament has been revealed.

Standing in the goal is goalkeeper Tran Trung Kien. The goalkeeper of HAGL played 24 V-League matches last season. Trung Kien is considered the most potential goalkeeper of the current young generation. However, this is also the first time Trung Kien has played for the U.23 Vietnam team.

The trio of central defenders includes Nguyen Nhat Minh, Nguyen Hieu Minh and Pham Ly Duc. Nhat Minh and Ly Duc are pillars of Hai Phong and HAGL clubs respectively, while Hieu Minh won the title of best player in the first division last season. All three have an aggressive playing style and ideal physique.

On the two flanks, Nguyen Phi Hoang (right) and Vo Anh Quan (left) are the chosen faces. Holding the central midfield position are the duo Nguyen Van Truong and Nguyen Thai Son, familiar to fans in youth tournaments. And on the attack line, Khuat Van Khang, Nguyen Dinh Bac and Nguyen Quoc Viet will form a "trident", helping U.23 Vietnam operate a controlling style of play and search for goals.

U.23 Vietnam will face U.23 Laos at 5:00 p.m. today. The last time the two teams "competed" in the U.23 Southeast Asian tournament was in 2023, when U.23 Vietnam won 4-1 in the opening match, and then won the championship.

In the opening match of Group B, U.23 Laos drew 1-1 with U.23 Cambodia. If they defeat U.23 Laos, U.23 Vietnam will certainly finish at least second in the group.
