After 70 years of construction and development, with the mission of inheriting the tradition and activities of the Vietnam Medical Association, it has continued to innovate the methods and contents of the Association's activities with many important achievements. The position and role of the Association have been consolidated, enhanced and increased in quantity and quality, step by step meeting the general development requirements of the health sector and the country.
Minister of Health Dao Hong Lan emphasized this at the 70th Anniversary of the Vietnam Medical Association (1955-2025) and the 4th Ceremony to honor outstanding intellectuals, taking place on August 8 in Hanoi.
The network of organizations is increasingly strong.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Minister of Health acknowledged and highly appreciated the role of the Vietnam Medical Association in innovating, strengthening the organization, building and developing the Association into an increasingly strong and effective network of organizations with the purpose of gathering and uniting members working in the medical field to build a Vietnamese medicine following the motto of science , nationality, and mass as taught by President Ho Chi Minh.

One of the outstanding achievements over the past 70 years is that the Vietnam Medical Association has truly become a common home of solidarity, gathering and promoting the intelligence of retired or working member associations, leading experts with both management and professional experience participating in activities. The Association has achieved many important results in health education and propaganda; research, consulting, criticism and social appraisal, contributing consulting opinions, criticism to build legal documents in improving the quality of medical examination and treatment, health insurance, and reforming health policies...
The Minister of Health requested the Association to continue to innovate and diversify forms of cooperation in the new period to improve the effectiveness of foreign affairs and international cooperation. The Association actively participates in activities as a member of the World Medical Association, the Southeast Asian Medical Association, and considers Takeda Foundation scholarships; focuses on emulation activities and activities to honor outstanding intellectuals of the Vietnam Medical Association.

Continue to innovate and improve operational efficiency
Speaking at the ceremony, Associate Professor Nguyen Thi Xuyen - President of the Vietnam Medical Association said that a major professional contribution of the Vietnam Medical Association was to build, complete and launch the first Vietnamese Medical Encyclopedia after 15 years of implementation with 6,100 entries in 41 specialties with the participation of more than 200 professors, doctors, and physicians participating in compilation, appraisal, and acceptance.
The Dictionary is a scientific work, of high academic and practical value not only for the medical profession but also for the entire Vietnamese medical knowledge system. The completion of the Dictionary, which took 15 years, demonstrates the perseverance, persistence and dedication of hundreds of experts, professors, doctors and scientists across the country who wish to contribute their efforts and intelligence to the medical profession and to society.
Up to now, the Vietnam Medical Association has become a gathering place with more than 400,000 members including professors, doctors, nurses, and medical staff who have worked and are working in 116 member associations, making important contributions to the cause of protecting, caring for, and improving people's health.

Regarding international cooperation, the General Association is an active member of the World Medical Association and the Medical Association of Southeast Asian Nations (MASEAN), holding the role of MASEAN chair for many terms; promoting cooperation with domestic and foreign organizations in the fields of research, training and health care.
The President of the Vietnam Medical Association emphasized that, promoting the tradition of the past 70 years, the Association will continue to innovate, improve operational efficiency, and make practical contributions to the development of Vietnamese medicine in the new era, with precision medicine, artificial intelligence and universal health care.
At the ceremony, Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan presented the President's First Class Labor Medal to the Vietnam Medical Association.
On this important occasion, the General Assembly organized the Ceremony to honor 80 outstanding intellectuals of the General Assembly for the 4th time - 2025. This is a meaningful humanitarian activity in implementing the Party and State's policies and guidelines for intellectuals.
The predecessor of the Vietnam Medical Association is the Vietnam Medical Association, established in 1955. Through 17 congresses, the Association is one of the earliest established social-professional organizations in our country with the mission of uniting all physicians working with the purpose of gathering and uniting members working in the medical field to build a Vietnamese medicine following the motto of science, nationality, and mass as taught by President Ho Chi Minh.
