On the morning of June 19, the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee - People's Council - People's Committee - Fatherland Front Committee held a ceremony to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day (June 21, 1925 - June 21, 2025) and award the 43rd Ho Chi Minh City Press Award - 2025.
Attending the ceremony were Politburo member, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Van Nen; Party Central Committee member, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Thanh Nghi; Party Central Committee member, Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Nguyen Van Duoc.
Also attending the ceremony were Vice President of the Vietnam Journalists Association Tran Trong Dung; Member of the Standing Committee of the Vietnam Journalists Association, President of the Ho Chi Minh City Journalists Association Nguyen Tan Phong.
Journalism is constantly evolving.
At the ceremony, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Journalists Association Nguyen Tan Phong spoke to review the glorious tradition of the Vietnamese Revolutionary Press throughout a century of accompanying the country and people.
Accordingly, on June 21, 1925, leader Nguyen Ai Quoc founded Thanh Nien Newspaper, giving birth to our country's revolutionary press. Vietnam's revolutionary press has gone through a glorious century of growth and development. Up to now, the press has always accompanied the nation, with the noble mission and great responsibility of serving the revolution and the people.
Revolutionary journalists have kept in mind Uncle Ho's teachings, have fought with all their heart and spirit with their pens and sometimes sacrificed their own blood and bones; have persistently studied and followed Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style when performing public duties, working in journalism as well as in daily life.
Mr. Nguyen Tan Phong emphasized that the team of journalists and members of the Journalists Association have been and will continue to strive to meet the highest requirements and new tasks, closely following the Party's policies and guidelines and the State's regulations to vividly reflect all aspects of political, economic, cultural, social, national security and defense life...; promote and spread good values, new factors, new models, creative and effective ways of doing things, contributing to maintaining political stability, consolidating the great national unity bloc, creating social consensus and people's trust in the country's innovation cause.
Accompanying the city even in difficult times
Speaking at the ceremony, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Thanh Nghi assessed that over the past 50 years, the city's press has constantly innovated, always demonstrating steadfast and sharp political qualities in reflecting reality, pioneering in protecting the Party's ideological foundation, deeply attached to the people's lives and the mission of serving the Fatherland.
"The Ho Chi Minh City press has strongly transformed itself towards professionalism, humanity and modernity, closely following reality, actively propagating the Party's guidelines and policies and the State's laws in a vivid and practical manner, promptly reflecting advanced examples, spreading the spirit of innovation, civilization, modernity, the core values that make up the identity of the city named after Uncle Ho" - Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nghi emphasized.
On this occasion, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee awarded Certificates of Merit to 51 collectives and 131 individuals with outstanding achievements in propagating political tasks, contributing to the city's socio-economic development.
According to Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nghi, the leaders of Ho Chi Minh City always respectfully acknowledge, thank and appreciate the effective contributions of press agencies, generations of reporters and editors who have been attached to and accompanied the city on many fronts in the past time, especially during the period when the city had to face many difficulties.
On behalf of the leaders of Ho Chi Minh City, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nghi expressed his deep gratitude to the press agencies in the city, along with reporters and editors who have continuously devoted themselves, always paid attention with good feelings, and actively contributed to the construction and development of the city.
At the program, the Ho Chi Minh City Journalists Association awarded 72 prizes for outstanding journalistic works, including 6 First prizes, 16 Second prizes, 23 Third prizes and 27 Encouragement prizes.
Focus on promoting the activities of Ho Chi Minh City after the merger
Standing Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Thanh Nghi suggested that in the coming time, Ho Chi Minh City press agencies maintain their political orientation, continue to strictly implement the leadership and direction of information and propaganda orientation of the Party, State and Ho Chi Minh City. Correctly implement the principles and purposes, comply with the law, provide truthful and timely information on all aspects of social life, protect the ideological foundation, policies and guidelines of the Party, policies and laws of the State, create social justice, protect the truth, protect the interests of the country, the nation and the people, prevent negativity and waste.
Focus on investing in technology, upgrading techniques, promoting digital transformation of journalism, applying artificial intelligence and big data to adapt to the digital media environment, and effectively implementing the mission of policy communication.
Focus on disseminating the merger process, streamlining the organizational apparatus as well as the city's activities after the merger, preparing for Party Congresses at all levels, the Ho Chi Minh City Party Congress for the 2025-2030 term, towards the 14th National Congress of the Party.
Proactively promote the organization of the Ho Chi Minh City press system in accordance with the policy and orientation of being lean, compact, strong, efficient and effective, building a team of journalists with strong political will, pure moral character, high professional capacity, deep awareness of their role and mission, becoming inspirational people, messengers of trust in society, constantly studying, practicing, always steadfast in their courage to spread humanistic values, affection, and qualities that make up the identity of heroic Ho Chi Minh City.
