As a result, Vinh Thanh commune proudly became a model new rural commune in 2024.

Visiting Vinh Thanh commune, we felt the excitement of the people as the commune was recognized as a model new rural area. It's easy to see the comprehensive development in Vinh Thanh, with the material and spiritual lives of the people significantly improved, and the appearance of the homeland undergoing many positive changes. Basic infrastructure is complete; the irrigation system is gradually being perfected, meeting the needs of local production. Schools and health stations meet standards, creating favorable conditions for education, medical care, and daily life for the people. In particular, the commune's transportation system is gradually improving, with main inter-commune and inter-district roads being upgraded, widened, and paved with asphalt or concrete... contributing to convenient travel for the people and promoting socio -economic development. “Our people are delighted with the positive changes in the locality. People's lives are improving day by day. The most outstanding feature of the locality in building new rural areas is the promotion of solidarity and mutual support in caring for the poor and actively participating in social welfare activities,” shared Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Dung (Dong Binh Nhat hamlet).

According to Ta Minh Tri, Chairman of the People's Committee of Vinh Thanh commune, recognizing that building new rural areas is a long-term and continuous program, immediately after being recognized as achieving the new rural area standard and advanced new rural area standard, the Party Committee, government, and people of Vinh Thanh commune have focused on maintaining and improving the quality of the criteria, striving to make the commune a model advanced new rural area. The locality proactively develops programs and plans for implementation each year and specific stages, suitable to the actual situation and conditions of the commune, and disseminates them to associations, organizations, and hamlets, with the spirit of "Doing the easy things first, the difficult things later," promptly resolving difficulties and obstacles in the implementation process. To date, the commune has been recognized as a model new rural area in 2024 in the field of culture and social affairs .

The rural areas of Vinh Thanh commune are flourishing.

In particular, increasing people's income is a key objective that the Party Committee and government of Vinh Thanh commune are focusing on promoting in the construction of new rural areas. Therefore, the locality has proactively done a good job in vocational training and job creation for laborers. At the same time, it has focused on shifting the structure of crops and livestock, creating conditions for farmers to learn and access scientific and technical advancements to apply to production, contributing to increasing income and improving the lives of farmers. Implementing the policy of transforming the structure of crops and livestock, farmers in Vinh Thanh commune maintain and expand typical production and business models that bring high economic efficiency, such as: oranges, tangerines, mangoes, cucumbers, watermelons, straw mushrooms, vegetable soybeans, various types of vegetables... To date, the entire commune has converted over 190 hectares of low-yield rice fields to growing vegetables and fruit trees. The commune has two products recognized as achieving OCOP 3-star: Co Nanh vegetarian fish sauce and tofu skin.

To improve the quality of life, Vinh Thanh commune has implemented the "Smart Hamlet" model in Dong Binh Trach hamlet as a pilot project, to be replicated in other communes in the area. According to Tran Thanh Son, Secretary of the Party Branch and Head of the People's Committee of Dong Binh Trach hamlet: To achieve the "Smart Hamlet" standard, specialized departments have supported the People's Committee in reviewing and compiling data; promoting propaganda and guiding people to apply information technology and digital transformation to serve their daily lives. This includes focusing on supporting the installation of electronic identification software, guiding people to register for administrative procedures online through the electronic portal, and promoting cashless payments…

“Changing the habits of people in rural areas is not easy, but with the determination of the Hamlet People's Committee and the support of the commune's organizations, the ‘digital popularization’ is being implemented smoothly, because the innovation from digital transformation has helped people have a more modern and civilized life,” said Mr. Tran Thanh Son. Mr. Nguyen Van Hai (residing in Dong Binh Trach hamlet) shared: “Thanks to the hamlet officials guiding me on using the banking app, I can now pay my electricity and water bills very easily. The system automatically pays on the due date, and I no longer have to wait for staff to come to my house to collect the money…”

In the coming period, Vinh Thanh commune will continue to maintain and improve the indicators and criteria of a model new rural commune. At the same time, it will mobilize and effectively utilize resources to promote agricultural and rural development; paying attention to investing in and developing a comprehensive infrastructure to create momentum for development. In addition, it will develop agricultural production in a sustainable and highly efficient direction, aiming to improve quality, meet market demands, and link it with eco-tourism development. Leveraging the local potential and advantages, the commune will focus on mobilizing all resources to develop the economy while simultaneously ensuring social welfare, maintaining political security, and social order and safety.

Over the years, Vinh Thanh commune has effectively maintained its social mobilization efforts, harnessing the people's strength to care for the poor; upgrading and repairing inter-commune and inter-hamlet roads, with the motto "the people know, the people discuss, the people do, the people inspect, and the people benefit." In the past five years, the commune has mobilized nearly 5.3 billion VND to carry out social welfare activities and care for the poor. This has contributed to improving the quality of life and increasing people's access to basic social services.
