From April 20 to 24, the Vietnam Aerobic Gymnastics team, consisting of 19 members (1 team leader, 2 coaches, 1 expert, 1 referee, 14 athletes) participated in the Suzuki Cup Aerobic World Cup, held in Tokyo, Japan.
According to Ms. Phan Thuy Linh, Vice President and General Secretary of the Vietnam Gymnastics Federation, this is the last tournament of Aerobic Vietnam before the 32nd SEA Games and is a valuable opportunity for Aerobic to compete and improve their skills. The Vietnam Aerobic team competing in the age group from 15 to 17 includes the women's singles of Phan Thi Uyen Nhi, the men's singles of Nguyen Tat Viet, and the doubles of Nguyen Tat Viet and Pham Phuong Anh.
In the category for the over 18 age group, Tran Ha Vi will compete in women's singles; Phan The Gia Hien and Nguyen Che Thanh will compete in men's singles; Bui Minh Phuong and Phan The Gia Hien, Tran Ngoc Thuy Vi and Le Hoang Phong will compete in pairs; the three-person category will include Hoang Gia Bao, Nguyen Che Thanh, Le Hoang Phong; Bui Minh Phuong, Tran Ha Vi, Pham Linh Chi; and the five-person category will include Nguyen Viet Anh, Vuong Hoai An, Nguyen Che Thanh, Le Hoang Phong, and Tran Ngoc Thuy Vi.
“The tournament gathers all the countries in Southeast Asia, so this can also be considered a pre-SEA Games 32 tournament. Through this, the team's coaching staff will better identify the opponents to make appropriate adjustments for the SEA Games. Although it is a regional arena, the competition at the 32nd SEA Games is not small because all countries have invested heavily in Aerobics such as Cambodia hiring Brazilian experts, Thailand hiring Portuguese experts, and the Philippines having the help of Hungarian experts,” said Ms. Phan Thuy Linh.
At the 31st SEA Games, the Vietnam Aerobics team competed successfully, winning 3 gold medals and 2 silver medals. The coaching staff's goal at the 32nd SEA Games is to win 2 to 3 gold medals. After the World Cup, the Vietnam Aerobics team will prepare to participate in the 32nd SEA Games. At the end of the first day of competition today (April 22), Vietnam Aerobics is leading in 2 events: 5-person and 3-person in the over-18 age group. Tomorrow (April 23), the athletes will compete in the final events.
