In a group with Poland and the Netherlands, the match against Austria is considered the easiest match for the French team. Coach Deschamps' team aims to win 3 points to have an advantage in advancing to Group D of Euro 2024.

Coach Didier Deschamps used the attacking trio of Thuram, Dembele, Mbappe from the start while Kante, Griezmann, and Rabiot appeared in midfield. Immediately after the opening whistle, France pushed up their formation in search of a goal.

In the 8th minute, Mbappe accelerated and had a chance to face Austrian goalkeeper Pentz but his shot was unsuccessful. After about 25 minutes, Austria gradually regained control of the game and played an open game with the World Cup runner-up.

Austria also had a clear chance when Baumgartner faced goalkeeper Maignan but could not finish. The game was balanced and luck came to France at the crucial moment.

In the 38th minute, Kylian Mbappe crossed the ball into the 5m50 area, forcing Maximilian Wober to fumble and head the ball into his own net, helping the French team take a 1-0 lead. Mbappe himself had a chance to double the gap in the 45th minute, but he could not beat Patrick Pentz in a one-on-one situation.

In the second half, France did not dominate too much but they still had good chances. In the 55th minute, Mbappe used his speed to escape and face the Austrian goalkeeper but the Real Madrid star shot wide.

10 minutes later, Theo Hernandez crossed the ball but his teammates could not touch it. The opportunity continued to come to France in the 66th minute, striker Thuram entered the penalty area but he could not beat goalkeeper Pentz in the face-off.

In the remaining minutes of the match, substitute striker Olivier Giroud had many unfortunate missed chances. The Austrian team even almost equalized at the end of the match, but the strikers were all hasty in finishing.

France secured a 1-0 victory but they also left many worries. Mbappe and Griezmann were covered in blood after collisions with opponents. Mbappe himself received an unfortunate yellow card when he deliberately went to the field to rest without permission from the doctor and referee.

After the opening match of Group D of Euro 2024, both France and the Netherlands have 3 points. In the second match on June 22, France will face the Netherlands in a match that will determine the top spot in the group.
