Having won the championship in the last two consecutive seasons (2022, 2023), the Vietnam U23 team continues to receive great expectations from fans in their journey to defend the throne. Before going to Indonesia, the Vietnam U23 team has finalized the list of 23 players.

Coach Kim Sang-sik highly appreciated the serious training spirit and efforts of all the players throughout the past time. However, due to the tournament regulations only allowing the registration of a maximum of 23 players, the coaching staff had to make the most optimal choice based on the role, playing position and performance of each individual.

Coach Kim Sang-sik affirmed that the whole team will approach the tournament with a high spirit of concentration and not be subjective: “Winning consecutive championships is something to be proud of, but we do not want to put too much pressure on the players. Football is a team sport , I always promote team spirit and discipline in competition. I always encourage the players to see this tournament as an opportunity to grow and develop, rather than just aiming for achievements. The results, in my opinion, will be the natural consequence of that process.”

Mr. Kim Sang-sik added that this tournament is also an opportunity for the coaching staff to test and evaluate the squad for the upcoming U23 Asian qualifiers and SEA Games. “The tournament is an opportunity for the coaching staff to evaluate the abilities of each player and find combinations for tactical cohesion. For young players, this is also a valuable opportunity to gain international competition experience,” said the coach of U23 Vietnam.

In a group that is considered easy, Mr. Kim Sang-sik still respects his opponents. Because in this tournament, U23 Vietnam is determined to have a further goal of preparing for the 33rd SEA Games.

Coach Kim Sang-sik said: “First of all, I am very happy to be participating in this tournament with the players. I know that U23 Vietnam has won the championship twice, so there is a certain pressure in this tournament. My players and I will try to train hard to achieve the best results.”

Mr. Kim also said that, to continue the success of the last two seasons, U23 Vietnam must compete with the spirit of considering each match as a final: "The players and I always practice hard, practice tactics and ensure good physical fitness. Each upcoming match is a final. I always set the highest goal and spirit to win each match."

Coach Kim Sang-sik frankly mentioned U23 Thailand and U23 Indonesia: “U23 Thailand is a very strong team, the players have good individual skills. U23 Indonesia has impressive speed and physical strength. These are two formidable teams, capable of competing for the championship.”

“We set the highest goal for this tournament. The performance of the young players depends on their spirit and careful preparation. For me, every opponent deserves respect and needs to be carefully prepared,” Mr. Kim emphasized.

The opening match of the Vietnam U23 team against U23 Laos will take place at 5:00 p.m. on July 19 at Patriot Stadium and will be broadcast live on FPT Play.

Que Ngoc Hai joins Thanh Hoa

Recently, central defender Que Ngoc Hai has officially signed a contract with Dong A Thanh Hoa club. The contract between the two sides lasts for 3 years.

On the day of his debut, central defender Que Ngoc Hai said: “Dong A Thanh Hoa is a team with tradition and identity in the V.League. The Thanh Hoa audience is always wonderful and I have been impressed with this for a long time. I would like to thank Chairman Cao Tien Doan, CEO Cao Hoang Duc and coach Choi Won-kwon for their invitation, care and affection for me. I appreciate that affection. This is the reason why when Thanh Hoa raised the issue of transfer, I agreed. This team is a collective that always stands out with a fierce fighting spirit and a lot of desire. I know that at the club there are many potential young players of Vietnamese football, there are seniors for whom I also have very special affection.

At this time, I hope that I will receive support from my new teammates and I will try my best and contribute as much as possible to the club to complete the goals in the 2025-2026 season. I hope that the team will receive absolute support from Thanh Hoa football fans". Que Ngoc Hai is the player who has played the second most matches in the history of the Vietnamese team with a total of nearly 80 matches. The player born in 1993 won the 2018 AFF Cup (the predecessor of the ASEAN Cup) and was included in the best squad of the Asian Cup of all time.
