As of June 14, the province consumed more than 54,000 tons of lychee, of which domestic consumption accounted for more than 83% and the rest was exported. Currently, customs clearance and export of Bac Giang lychee through border gates in Lao Cai and Lang Son provinces are basically smooth, lychee trucks are allowed to follow priority routes.

Implementing the program "Luc Ngan Lychee Week" in industrial parks in the province, as of noon on June 14, functional agencies and local authorities have supported businesses, cooperatives and people to set up 3 points to display, introduce and sell products in industrial parks including: 1 point at Evergreen Apartment Complex, Nenh Ward (Viet Yen Town), 1 point at My Dien Market and 1 point at Luxshare Dormitory, Van Trung Industrial Park. It is expected that on June 15, the Department will continue to coordinate with Hoa Phu Invest Limited Liability Company to deploy 2 more points to sell lychee in Hoa Phu Industrial Park.
However, the weather is currently hot, lychees ripen quickly, and are being harvested simultaneously in many localities in the province. The amount of lychees arriving at the weighing points at the same time in the morning causes local congestion. In addition, recently, due to the impact of storm No. 1 and prolonged rain in the Central provinces, it has affected the transportation of goods in general, and lychees in particular, to the Central and Southern regions. People from some other localities bring lychees of poor quality and appearance to Luc Ngan to sell, but many people mistakenly think they are Bac Giang lychees... The above factors make the consumption of lychees encounter some difficulties.
Comrade Pham Van Thinh speaks at the central bridge point. |
At the meeting, delegates focused on discussing solutions to promote lychee consumption. Comrade Pham Cong Toan, Acting Chairman of Chu Town People's Committee, informed that currently, the price of good lychee in the area is about 20,000 VND/kg in the garden. Every day, there are more than 100 lychee purchasing points for people. Along with selling fresh lychee, people in the town are also preparing conditions for drying lychee with about 690 drying ovens, with a capacity of 0.7-1 ton/batch. When the main season comes, the operation of these drying ovens will reduce some of the pressure on product consumption.
At the conference, Tan Yen district leaders asked the Department of Industry and Trade to coordinate to organize a booth selling lychee of the district at the industrial park.
Particularly in Luc Nam district, agricultural product purchasing points all year round, at this time also focus on purchasing lychee from the Central provinces, joining hands to consume lychee for the people.
Comrade Le Ba Thanh, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment spoke. |
According to Mr. Le Ba Thanh, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment, to facilitate the consumption of products, the key is still to ensure food hygiene and safety. Due to the large output, the amount of dried lychee will increase in the future. Therefore, for establishments in need, the Department will send a force to inspect the lychee drying area so that it can immediately provide shipments that meet food hygiene and safety conditions, ensuring smooth consumption. In particular, people need to comply with the product harvesting process, meet the requirements of the markets; strictly manage the codes of growing areas and packaging facilities; speed up the process of granting authorization for codes of growing areas and packaging facilities for lychee export.
Representatives of the Department of Industry and Trade proposed that localities should propagate and mobilize people to proactively classify and eliminate poor quality lychee products, to ensure prestige, promote a sense of responsibility, preserve and protect the image and reputation of the Bac Giang Lychee Brand. Create favorable conditions for traders to survey, monitor and purchase lychee in the area. Continue to effectively implement solutions to ensure security, order, traffic safety... to minimize traffic congestion, affecting the circulation and consumption of lychee.
Comrade Nguyen Van Phuong, Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade, proposed a number of solutions for lychee consumption. |
After listening to the opinions of the delegates, comrade Pham Van Thinh emphasized that in the coming time, it is necessary to focus on synchronously implementing solutions to support effective lychee consumption. It is expected that July will be the main lychee harvest season. In the context of many changes in methods and market situations this year, all levels and sectors need to focus highly, act decisively, and not miss opportunities.
He suggested that localities strengthen propaganda and mobilize people, especially lychee growers, to preserve and spread the beautiful image of lychee no matter how difficult it is. Growers themselves must love the products they make, from care, harvesting to trading, showing respect for lychee in every action.
Regarding professional work, he requested the Department of Agriculture and Environment and related departments and branches to closely follow actual conditions and promptly give instructions. At the same time, information on output, quality, and market must be public and transparent; cases of spreading false information that affect the consumption of agricultural products must be strictly handled.
On the people's side, it is necessary to strictly follow the food safety process, classify and package according to standards to improve the quality of lychee. Promoting the experience of lychee consumption gained during the Covid-19 pandemic in previous years, localities proactively update output, guide harvest time, check ripening gardens in each village and commune, ensure that purchasing takes place reasonably and effectively, avoiding congestion.
All levels, sectors and localities must create the most favorable conditions for traders to purchase lychees, and try to reduce traffic congestion at major consumption points. For localities with lychee drying activities, it is necessary to check and maintain drying ovens and prepare adequate equipment for production.
In domestic consumption, it is necessary to closely follow market developments to promptly resolve difficulties and problems that arise. At the same time, it is necessary to have a clear direction to bring lychee closer to domestic consumers in many creative ways. In addition to distribution in industrial parks, where there are many laborers, it is possible to expand to mid- and high-end apartment buildings, commercial centers, and large supermarket chains in Hanoi and key urban areas.
It is necessary to study a mechanism to support all transportation costs for cooperatives, businesses, and individuals participating in distribution, creating the most favorable conditions for lychee to be present at sales locations with high purchasing power, contributing to increasing consumption output.
Regarding the Chinese market, he assigned the Department of Industry and Trade to closely monitor demand and support connections with suppliers and exporters. The common spirit is to promote the highest responsibility so that farmers can have a successful crop, stable prices and lychee continues to affirm its position in the domestic and foreign markets.
