Dong Nai reviews planning for development of nursing homes and elderly care centers

(DN) - On the morning of November 25, Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of the Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee Le Truong Son worked with the Provincial Department of Health to review the contents related to the current situation and planning orientation for the development of nursing homes and elderly care centers in Dong Nai province.

According to the Department of Health of Dong Nai province, after the merger, there are currently 21 social assistance facilities in Dong Nai province, including 2 public facilities managing, caring for, and nurturing 415 subjects and 19 non-public facilities caring for nearly 1,400 subjects.

For 18 non-public social assistance facilities (established before 2020 by organizations and individuals applying for establishment and operation licenses), there are 14 facilities that provide care for the elderly with a total of 222 subjects. In June 2025, the Department of Health granted an operating license to 1 non-public social assistance facility in Long Khanh ward, operating under an enterprise model, with 100% fee collection with the function of receiving, caring for, and nurturing the elderly.

In recent times, social assistance facilities have been licensed to operate effectively, contributing to the good implementation of socialization policies and social security policies in the province.

Speaking at the working session, Vice Chairman of Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee Le Truong Son requested the Department of Health to review the regulations on decentralization of authority to the commune level, advise the Provincial People's Committee to issue a directive document, and not to loosen the management of nursing homes and elderly care centers in the area.

At the same time, regularly organize inspection teams to grasp the current situation at nursing homes and centers for the elderly. The Department of Health studies regulations and advises the Provincial People's Committee to develop a plan for the development of nursing homes and centers for the elderly in the period 2026-2023; pay attention to investing and expanding existing public facilities, and at the same time encourage private units and foreign investors to participate.
