On the morning of December 11, after offering incense and flowers to Vice President Nguyen Sinh Sac - President Ho Chi Minh's father at the Nguyen Sinh Sac Relic Site, Cao Lanh City (Dong Thap Province), General Secretary To Lam led a delegation from the Central Committee to chair a working session with the Dong Thap Provincial Party Committee. Also attending were Mr. Nguyen Trong Nghia - Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Propaganda Department; Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha.
Many projects are speeding up progress
At the meeting, Secretary of Dong Thap Provincial Party Committee Le Quoc Phong informed about the implementation of the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress and the Resolution of the 11th Provincial Party Congress, term 2020 - 2025. Accordingly, the targets on Party building met and exceeded the plan; the Front Work Committee, youth union branches, associations, association halls, and self-governing people's groups operated from good to above, reaching 94% (target 70%); the poverty rate was 1.08%; the criteria for building new rural areas and establishing cooperatives operated effectively and highly.
In addition, Dong Thap province's economy has shifted in the right direction, with growth improving year by year. The province's agricultural sector continues to promote its strengths, effectively restructure with the value chain of key products being expanded, effectively combining agriculture - tourism - trade, and agricultural economic thinking gradually taking shape to replace agricultural production thinking. The average growth of the industrial sector is estimated at 6.15%/year; in which, the processing industry accounts for over 98% of the total production value of the whole sector and continues to play a key role in linking production, consumption, and increasing the value of the agricultural product chain. The private economy has gradually become an important driving force in the province's economic development, with its contribution to GRDP estimated at more than 29%, an increase of 6% compared to 2020... Mobilizing investment capital for social development has increased significantly, in the period of 2021 - 2025 it is estimated to reach more than 117,000 billion VND, an increase of 38% compared to the total mobilized capital in the period of 2016 - 2020. It is estimated that by the end of 2025, there will be 52 km of expressway, with an additional 14 km of national highway passing through the province. Many large-scale projects with inter-regional connections have been and are being accelerated, such as: Completing the My Thuan - Can Tho expressway (section passing through the province); speeding up the construction progress of the Cao Lanh - An Huu expressway, component project 1, expected to be completed in September 2025; Coordinate with My Thuan Project Management Board to prepare conditions for starting construction of My An - Cao Lanh expressway (phase 1); currently implementing construction to upgrade Cao Lanh - Lo Te route, Nam Song Tien project, National Highway 30 bypass - Cao Lanh city...
To promote socio-economic development in the province, Dong Thap province proposed that the Central Government agree to the investment policy of the Hong Ngu - Tra Vinh expressway, the Hong Ngu - Cao Lanh port section (about 68 km long, construction scale of 4 lanes, belonging to the transport corridor from Dinh Ba border gate economic zone before 2030) to contribute to the formation of traffic infrastructure...

Developing in the leading group of the Mekong Delta region
Speaking at the meeting, General Secretary To Lam noted that Dong Thap is a border province with great potential advantages in international trade. Therefore, the province must fully identify and focus on promoting all sectors, especially trade and industry... Dong Thap reported and immediately deployed the implementation of resolutions and tasks of Party congresses at all levels, considering this a key task.
The General Secretary emphasized that Dong Thap province needs to mobilize all resources and unique strengths to make a breakthrough, contributing positively to the overall development of the Mekong Delta and the country. By 2030, Dong Thap province must develop into a leading group in the Mekong Delta in building ecological agriculture, modern countryside, civilized farmers; sustainably developing the agricultural sector to support the economy. With a vision to 2050, Dong Thap will become a pioneer in innovation and economic restructuring towards modernization, opening up opportunities for new economic sectors such as: ecological economy, freshwater economy, adaptive agriculture, multimodal transport, and health care.
On the same afternoon, in Tram Chim town, Tam Nong district, the General Secretary presented 3 STEM education practice rooms to schools, including Tram Chim High School, Tam Nong district; Chau Thanh 1 High School, Chau Thanh district and Tan Hong High School, Tan Hong district. On this occasion, at the People's Committee of Tam Nong district, General Secretary To Lam also met and presented gifts to representatives of 80 policy households, Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, and veteran soldiers in the province. At the same time, the General Secretary also surveyed the Cao Lanh - An Huu Expressway Project, My Tho commune section, Cao Lanh district (connecting Dong Thap with Tien Giang).
Double people's income
At the meeting, General Secretary To Lam pointed out that Dong Thap has gone through a difficult period, so it must move forward to become rich and develop. If we are content with "having enough to eat and wear", we will not meet the requirements. To achieve the target of double-digit growth, sustainable development is not only about agriculture, we must set a target of doubling the average income of the people in the next term. Therefore, all sectors and localities must calculate specific steps.
