The Dong Dang - Tra Linh Expressway Phase 1 is 93.35 km long, including 2 tunnels through the mountains, 64 overpasses across the Ky Cung and Bang Giang rivers and many streams and provincial roads. According to the technical design documents , the land acquisition area for Phase 1 of the project is about 825.9 hectares. Up to now, Cao Bang and Lang Son provinces have handed over over 823.4 hectares of land, reaching 99.7%. Compensation payments to people in the project area in Cao Bang province reached over 485.8 billion VND, reaching 98.7%. In 2025, the project was assigned a capital plan of over 5,930 billion VND, of which the central budget is 5,014 billion VND; the local budget is 916.2 billion VND.
All contractors of the general contractor arranged to survey the access road, deploy the construction of service roads along the route, occupy the site at the handed-over locations; excavate and fill the roadbed of the route segments with approved design documents and survey material mines to serve the project implementation. Currently, the large construction site is mobilizing 3,260 engineers and workers with nearly 1,500 machines and equipment, simultaneously deploying over 200 construction points. The total output of the packages implemented by the beginning of September 2025 reached over 4,108 billion VND, reaching nearly 40% of the total output of the project and 60% of the technical route output, meeting the requirements of the BOT contract.
The pressure on the project's phase 1 progress is increasing as there are only nearly 4 months left. Investors and contractors are committed to working closely with the government and people to resolve each obstacle regarding site clearance, dumping sites, and technical infrastructure, focusing all resources to complete the goal of completing the technical route of phase 1 by the end of 2025.
