Very heavy rain forecast in the South

On October 11 and 12, the area from Quang Tri to Phu Yen , the Southern Central Highlands and the South will face a widespread heavy rain, with the potential risk of flash floods and localized flooding.

Today (October 10), the Central Highlands and the South continue to have scattered showers and thunderstorms. It is forecasted that tonight, these two areas will continue to have scattered showers and thunderstorms, with some places experiencing heavy rain of over 60mm.

The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting warns that on October 11 and 12, the area from Quang Tri to Phu Yen and the Southern Central Highlands and the Southern region will have widespread heavy rain.

Specifically, on the afternoon of October 11, the area from Quang Tri to Phu Yen will experience scattered showers and thunderstorms, with some places experiencing heavy to very heavy rain. From the night of October 11 to October 12, rain will tend to increase in this area with the possibility of moderate rain and thunderstorms, with many places continuing to experience heavy to very heavy rain.

The Southern Central Highlands and the South will be more clearly affected from the afternoon of October 12, with forecasts of moderate rain and widespread thunderstorms (locally there will be heavy to very heavy rain).

The meteorological agency recommends that people in these areas closely monitor forecast information and be on guard against extreme weather events such as tornadoes, lightning, and strong gusts of wind during thunderstorms.

The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting predicts the weather from the night of October 12 to October 20:

There will be rain in some places in the North , especially in mountainous and midland areas from around October 14 to 16, there is a possibility of scattered showers and thunderstorms.

The North Central and South Central regions will have scattered showers and thunderstorms, mainly from the night of October 12 to 13. Moderate and scattered showers with thunderstorms will appear, with heavy rain in some places.

In the late afternoon and evening , the South Central, Central Highlands and the South will have scattered showers and thunderstorms, with some places having heavy rain; in the South, from the night of October 12 to 13, there will be rain, moderate rain, and some places having heavy rain.

Rainfall forecast in the South and Central Highlands, from Quang Tri to Phu Yen on October 11 is 15-30mm, locally over 90mm. Mountainous areas need to monitor and proactively avoid landslides because there is a risk of localized rain with high intensity over 90mm in just 6 hours, which can cause local flooding and flash floods.
