According to a quick report from the Provincial Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue and Civil Defense, as of 7:30 p.m. on July 20, heavy rain and thunderstorms had caused severe damage in many localities.
Specifically, about people: There was 1 person killed (Mr. Vuong Thanh L. (born in 1966), residing in Thai Binh hamlet , Vinh Loc ward (old Nghi Thai commune); There were 4 people injured, including: Nguyen Tan Dung; Nguyen Huu Khang (born in 2012, residing in Nghia Hung commune); Vo Dinh Nam (born in 1996, residing in Minh Hop commune); Hoang Thi Tinh, residing in Kim Bang commune. The victims were mainly due to falling trees.

Regarding housing: The whole province has a total of 357 houses affected to varying degrees. Of these, 17 houses were completely damaged (over 70%), 12 houses were severely damaged (50-70%), 71 houses were severely damaged (30-50%) and 257 houses were partially damaged under 30%.
Regarding education : 2 classrooms had their roofs blown off, 2 office rooms had broken windows and about 80 meters of school fences collapsed.

Regarding agricultural production: About 5.55 hectares of rice, 56.7 hectares of crops, 55.6 hectares of perennial crops and 42.25 hectares of annual crops were affected. In addition, 116.6 hectares of concentrated fruit trees and 183.95 hectares of existing forests were also affected, the exact extent of damage has not been determined. The strong whirlwind also broke 675 rubber trees and more than 1,700 shade trees and urban trees, significantly affecting the landscape and traffic safety.

Regarding livestock: The whole province has 22 barns and equipment damaged, about 180 square meters of barn roofs were blown away. The aquaculture sector recorded about 0.4 hectares of traditional fish ponds affected.
Regarding industry and technical infrastructure: The storm broke 77 electric poles (including 37 medium and high voltage poles, 26 low voltage poles, 14 public lighting poles) and caused 2,450 meters of electric wire to be cut. The power system in some areas was interrupted, affecting people's lives and production.

Faced with severe damage and the risk of continuing natural disasters, the People's Committee of Nghe An province has issued documents directing localities to focus on reviewing and implementing timely response plans.
The Provincial Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Control and Search and Rescue requested localities to urgently inspect areas at high risk of landslides, flash floods, and deep flooding; prepare plans to evacuate residents in dangerous areas to safe places.
