“I have heard a lot about the history and the war in Vietnam since I was a child. It can be said that the wars in Vietnam have a lot of meaning and also mark one of the most important events of the last century, a country defeated the world giants equipped with heavy weapons,” Andrés Rodríguez from the capital Santiago of Chile shared with Nhan Dan Newspaper.
Coming to Vietnam during meaningful days to travel and learn about history, visitors from across the ocean visited Nhan Dan Newspaper to admire the images of one of the glorious historical milestones of our nation in the exhibition about the Dien Bien Phu victory.
And even though they come from different countries and are geographically far apart, everyone shares the same profound thoughts, containing respect and admiration for the previous generation.
The country's important historical lessons, expressed creatively and appropriately, will help "bring" history closer to future generations.
Andrés Rodríguez shared: “ The special thing about the war in Vietnam is that you wanted independence and wanted to decide your own future, that is what impressed me. That is why the Vietnamese people fought not only for their own freedom but also for the freedom of the country. That noble thought made them able to sacrifice their lives to fight for their beliefs. Only when we fight for something bigger than ourselves can we create great things like the achievements you have had .”
Andrés Rodríguez also said that he only planned to stay in Vietnam for a few days before continuing his journey. However, in the sacred atmosphere, especially on days when the whole country of Vietnam shares joy, he decided to stay longer to learn more about the history of Vietnam, to be able to feel more of the pages of books he had read about this place since he was a boy.

The generation gap makes things fade away, this happens in many places, even in Chile because young people have a different living environment than before.
However, despite the generation gap, we have the responsibility to help the younger generation remember what our ancestors sacrificed for the current independence and peace .
As one of the foreign tourists visiting the exhibition, Ms. Natasha (a French tourist) said that her family had just arrived in Vietnam and the first impression when walking around Hoan Kiem Lake was the image introducing the panorama exhibition about the Dien Bien Phu victory. This time, her family had not had the opportunity to go to Dien Bien, so the exhibition immediately attracted the family's attention.
The French tourist family was impressed with the way the artist brought so many angles and details of the war into the painting.
Representatives of Nhan Dan Newspaper exchanged with international visitors at the Dien Bien Phu Campaign panorama exhibition. |
"Introducing the story of the victory at the Dien Bien Phu campaign in the past to tourists is very interesting. Because your Dien Bien Phu victory is an event that the whole world knows and we French people understand relatively well. I think the exhibition will attract a lot of tourists," said Ms. Natasha.
Also attending the event, a group of tourists from Canada also stayed a long time to listen to the introduction and learn about the Dien Bien Phu victory through the panorama.
July, a member of the group, said, " This is the first time we have come to Vietnam and seen a panorama in Hanoi during an event like this. We had the opportunity to admire and enjoy a very creative and interesting work of art. The artist must have put a lot of effort and passion into putting so many details on the same picture and making everything so vivid."
We don't really know much about the Vietnam War, but seeing the photos and hearing about your victory through this painting, we have more respect for the soldiers who fought and sacrificed for the country, another member of the group shared.
Looking at the pictures and visiting Vietnam during these meaningful days, international visitors all shared that walking on the streets, visiting historical places and directly feeling the breath of Vietnam, that goes far beyond the pages of books or the information they know about this small but powerful country.
