Total revenue from tourism is estimated at 129,000 billion VND, an average growth of 34.5%/year, of which revenue from international visitors reached more than 1.09 billion USD, making Thanh Hoa one of the "leading flags" of tourism in the North Central region.
Shaping sustainable development strategy
According to the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Thanh Hoa province, since the beginning of the year, Thanh Hoa has welcomed 15.34 million visitors, an increase of 6.2% over the same period in 2024, reaching 95.9% of the yearly plan. Total tourism revenue reached 42,597 billion VND, an increase of 33.4% over the same period, reaching 93.6% of the yearly plan; revenue from international visitors reached 347 million USD, an increase of 21.6% over the same period. These impressive figures not only demonstrate the rapid recovery but also affirm the correct and sustainable development orientation of Thanh Hoa tourism industry in the period of deep integration.

One of the factors contributing to the success of Thanh Hoa tourism is the systematic and synchronous planning, review and adjustment of tourism development projects. From 2021 to now, the province has approved 9 new plans and is researching 7 other plans, bringing the total number of plans serving tourism development to 57, of which 50 have been approved.
These plans not only guide the development of key tourist areas and destinations but also create a clear legal corridor for attracting investment and promoting the potential of Thanh Hoa’s rich natural resources and culture and history. This is an important “orientation map” to help Thanh Hoa tourism develop sustainably, balancing exploitation and conservation.
In parallel with the planning, Thanh Hoa focuses on investing heavily in infrastructure and technical facilities serving tourism. From 2021 to now, the whole province has 70 tourism infrastructure projects, of which 48 projects have been completed and 22 projects are being implemented, contributing to improving the capacity to welcome visitors and connecting tourist areas and destinations.
Along with that, the province has approved 190 projects to restore and embellish relics, contributing to preserving heritage values and effectively exploiting cultural and spiritual tourist attractions. The transportation system has been expanded, coastal routes and roads connecting key tourist areas have been invested synchronously, making the travel of tourists more convenient.
Up to now, the whole province has 77 tourism business investment projects with a total registered capital of about 155,000 billion VND, of which 18 projects have been completed. Many large-scale, modern projects, targeting the high-end segment are being implemented such as: Flamingo Linh Truong, Lamori Sam Son, Vlasta, FLC Sam Son, Sea Square and Sunworld Park, creating a strong driving force for the breakthrough development of the tourism industry.
Diversifying Thanh tourism products
If investment is considered a “launching pad”, product diversification is the “wings” that help Thanh Hoa tourism go further. In the period 2021-2025, the province’s tourism products will be constantly renewed and improved in quality, creating a colorful picture, attracting domestic and foreign tourists.

Thanh Hoa has a long coastline, many beautiful beaches and a synchronous tourism infrastructure. Sam Son, Hai Tien, Hai Hoa tourist areas and a series of high-class resort complexes have created the brand of Thanh sea tourism.
In recent years, many new types of services have been put into operation such as kayaking, Zipline, Gokart racing, paintball, paragliding, tours to explore Me Island, Ne Island... bringing new experiences, attracting young people and tourists with high spending. Along with that, a series of cultural, sports events, sea festivals are held annually such as Sam Son Sea Festival, Sea Carnival, Light Festival, street art performances... contributing to promoting the image of "Thanh Hoa - the destination of friendly smiles".
With a rich history and unique cultural traditions, Thanh Hoa has invested heavily in restoring historical and cultural relics such as Ho Dynasty Citadel, Lam Kinh, Ba Trieu Temple, Am Tien, Trinh Palace, Yen Truong... Many places have become typical cultural destinations, attracting millions of visitors each year. Traditional festivals such as Lam Kinh Festival, Ba Trieu Temple, Banh Chung and Banh Day Festival, Le Hoan Festival... are organized methodically, harmoniously combining traditional and modern elements, creating a unique cultural space, imbued with the identity of Thanh land.
In particular, many major international diplomatic and cultural events held in Thanh Hoa such as the 60th anniversary of Vietnam - Laos relations (2021), 30 years of Vietnam - Korea (2022), 50 years of Vietnam - Japan (2023) have contributed to strongly promoting the local image to international friends, affirming Thanh Hoa's position on the regional cultural tourism map.
If the sea is a symbol of dynamism, Thanh Hoa's mountains and forests are the highlight of peace and experience. The ecological areas of Pu Luong, Pu Hu, Xuan Lien, Ben En or Lang Chanh protective forest are becoming "green paradises" for tourists who love nature and exploration.
Community tourism products such as Ma village, Vin village, Nang Cat village, Hang village, But village... are systematically invested, promoting national cultural identity, combined with ethnic costume performances, traditional cuisine, folk games, bringing authentic, close and attractive experiences. In addition, trekking tours, jungle marathons, green agricultural experience programs are organized regularly, attracting young people and international visitors, affirming the right direction of Thanh Hoa in developing eco-tourism, community tourism associated with environmental protection.

In addition, Thanh Hoa is also a pioneer in developing MICE tourism products, craft tourism and craft villages, with 43 traditional occupations, 18 craft villages, 53 traditional craft villages and dozens of OCOP product display points, local specialties. Tourist farm models such as Queen Farm, Linh Ky Moc, Golden Cow, Anh Duong not only attract tourists but also create sustainable livelihoods for local people. Along with that, the waterway tourism route, Phan Chu Trinh walking street, Lam Son Square cultural space, Hot Air Balloon Festival, Thanh Hoa - Hoi An Cultural Week... create a new breeze, diversify products, expand the customer base, contributing to making Thanh Hoa a "four-season destination".
With outstanding results, Thanh Hoa is gradually realizing the goal of becoming a tourism center of the North Central region. The tourism industry not only creates great economic value but also contributes to cultural preservation, promotes labor restructuring, improves people's lives and affirms the image of a dynamic and hospitable Thanh Hoa. From strategic vision to specific figures, from modern coastal resorts to peaceful eco-villages, Thanh Hoa tourism is growing strongly - not only a "destination of today", but also a symbol of green and sustainable development of the future.
The period 2021-2025 with bold imprints, laying the foundation for a new development period of Thanh Hoa tourism, a period of deep integration, professionalism and sustainability. With great potential, the companionship of the government, businesses and people, Thanh Hoa tourism is affirming its position as the "heart of North Central tourism".
