Among various types of tourism , green tourism is gaining significant attention from many visitors. This is because it is a type of tourism that is linked to the conservation and sustainable development of natural resources and ecosystems. Recognizing this demand, in recent years, many "green destinations" have emerged in the province, offering attractive experiences for tourists.
Tourists experience mountain climbing at Pu Luong Tourist Area (Ba Thuoc).
With its peaceful and picturesque green spaces and pristine natural scenery, Yen Trung Tourist Village (Yen Dinh district) has become a popular destination for tourists in recent years. Here, visitors can explore a space steeped in the essence of Vietnamese rural life, with centuries-old houses preserved to this day. Inside, the houses recreate traditional items such as wood-burning stoves, cupboards, and stone mortars. Next, visitors can discover a clean farm where various vegetables and fruits like melons and cucumbers are grown, and experience the life of farmers through activities such as using fishing nets, fishing from boats, or participating in goat herding with the villagers, learning about their lifestyle, culture, and customs. In the evening, around a crackling bonfire, visitors can enjoy engaging activities such as bonfires, watching movies, and singing and dancing.
Mai Hoa (from Thanh Hoa City), a visitor to Yen Trung Tourist Village, said: "Instead of seeking out fully equipped resorts or bustling cities, my friends and I always want to find a peaceful space for our weekend getaways. Therefore, we often look for green tourist destinations close to nature such as Yen Trung Tourist Village, Anh Duong Farm (Yen Dinh), Pu Luong Tourist Area (Ba Thuoc), Linh Ky Moc Eco-tourism Area (Thanh Hoa City)... When we come to these places, we all share the feeling of returning to our childhood memories with different emotions, breathing in the fresh air and enjoying local specialties. More importantly, green tourism also helps raise our responsibility for environmental protection and helps local people preserve their customs and traditions."
In the current trend, as tourists' interest in the natural environment increases, developing high-quality green tourism products will significantly contribute to creating competitiveness and attractiveness for the destination. Furthermore, because the green tourism trend is increasingly attracting many tourists, investing in this type of tourism also helps improve seasonality in tourism activities... Therefore, for many years, thanks to the development of green tourism, Pu Luong Tourist Area (Ba Thuoc) has always been a "hot" name on the tourism map of Vietnam and the world throughout all four seasons. Tourists coming here, regardless of the season, can experience many interesting things, such as admiring the endless terraced rice fields and enjoying the fresh air; Visitors can participate in various activities such as hiking, mountain climbing, and cycling. At night, in the tranquil atmosphere, surrounded by lush greenery, locals and tourists gather warmly around a crackling fire, savoring the aroma of roasted sweet potatoes and grilled corn; around a pot of rice wine, listening to the lively sounds of gongs and drums, mingled with singing and cheering... creating a joyful and vibrant atmosphere. It is the convergence of distinctive cultural features, a pristine environment, unique scenery, and kind, genuine people that has created a captivating Pu Luong.
The trend of eco-tourism has become increasingly popular in recent years, attracting many domestic and international tourists. This type of tourism offers people a novel and friendly experience, allowing them to explore local culture, participate in activities to learn about biodiversity, and discover nature. In fact, many tourist areas and destinations have successfully attracted visitors by developing green tourism, such as: Ben En National Park (Nhu Thanh), Xuan Lien Nature Reserve (Thuong Xuan), Elephant Waterfall, May Waterfall (Thach Thanh), Golden Cow Farm, Luong Son commune (Thuong Xuan), Strawberry Farm, Cam Ngoc commune (Cam Thuy)... Along with the development of green tourism, investment in destinations such as parking lots, lighting systems, public restrooms, signboards, etc., especially creating a "circular loop" in waste and wastewater treatment, contributing to environmental protection, has been a focus for many tourism businesses and localities. Thanks to this, the current development of tourism in Thanh Hoa province has been achieved.
Green tourism is a responsible form of tourism associated with environmental protection and the preservation of natural and cultural elements of the local people. Therefore, this type of tourism is increasingly attractive to tourists and has been identified as a key tourism product of Thanh Hoa in recent years. However, for green tourism products to be truly attractive and draw tourists to explore and experience them, in addition to the "necessary" conditions of natural and cultural elements, the "sufficient" conditions must include improving service quality, investing in synchronized infrastructure and technical facilities; building a civilized and friendly lifestyle, and maintaining environmental hygiene in tourism activities... At the same time, it is also necessary to promote the connection of green tourism destinations linked to heritage sites, historical relics, festivals, traditional crafts, cuisine, agriculture, and community tourism...
