Continuing the diverse activities to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Russia, under the introduction of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vietnam, with the support of the Embassy of Vietnam in the Russian Federation, on July 17, at the Great Hall of the University of Finance in Moscow, Le Ngoc Theater performed the play "The 72nd Petition" within the framework of the Art Program The Vietnam-Russia Friendship Epic.
After its debut three years ago, the play has enjoyed great success on domestic stages, as well as in Laos and China, before reaching a wide audience in the land of the White Birch.
The play was inspired by a real wrongful conviction, the convicted person wrote and sent 72 petitions to Uncle Ho to appeal for his innocence, for 8 years it seemed hopeless, but when the person was placed at the center of the government, integrity and impartiality helped to overturn the case, clear the terrible injustice of a person, and bring faith to a family.
The play's content not only revolves around the main character who was wrongly convicted of murder, but also depicts many "faces" of society and officials, thereby raising current issues about injustice, corruption, indifference, the role of correct orientations, and humanistic values in life.
Speaking to VNA reporters in the Russian Federation, People's Artist Le Tien Tho - former Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, director, said that although the image of Uncle Ho has been exploited a lot on stage, in order for the stage to "light up" for more than 3 years, it is necessary to find new ideas, with "The 72nd Letter" being Uncle Ho's concern for human destiny. The authors and directors have successfully built the knots and "stage" conflicts to keep the audience's attention for the entire 120 minutes.
Explaining the decision to bring this political play to perform for overseas Vietnamese in Russia, Meritorious Artist Nguyen Van Hai, Production Director and Artistic Director of Le Ngoc Stage, who plays Uncle Ho, said that in addition to commemorating the even-numbered year event in bilateral relations, Russia is also the place where Uncle Ho set foot more than 100 years ago on his journey to find a way to save the country, and today the play has brought Uncle Ho "back" to the country he loved so much. This is very meaningful for all the artists in the troupe.
Artist Nguyen Van Hai said that in more than 300 performances, the play has always been warmly welcomed. It can be seen that in Russia as well, the play attracted a large audience from many groups, and the community watched very attentively.
It is noteworthy that although the play was performed in Vietnamese, this cultural event attracted many Russian friends and leaders of the University of Finance, a prestigious school that has trained many generations of financial experts for Vietnam.
Attending and welcoming the play, Vietnamese Ambassador to Russia Dang Minh Khoi said that many other major cultural exchange and promotion activities will take place between the two countries, creating momentum to promote cooperation in education , culture and arts between Vietnam and Russia to a new level, contributing to changing the face of bilateral relations.
After the first performance, Le Ngoc stage will continue to offer overseas Vietnamese special art programs in Moscow./.
