BHG - The dam that creates the landscape of Ha Giang city center is a key project of great significance in the socio-economic development of Ha Giang city and the whole province. Taking advantage of favorable weather, these days, hundreds of workers along with many machines and equipment are rushing to construct, racing against time, ensuring the completion of difficult and complicated items on the riverbed before the flood comes (around the middle of the fourth lunar month).

The project of the Dam to create a landscape for Ha Giang city has a scale including: Construction of a dam and regulation of water level by flat gate, drainage according to the terrain of the riverbed, ensuring flood discharge at a safe frequency; the regulating gate is responsible for raising the water level of the Lo River through the center of Ha Giang city in the dry season. In the rainy season, the gate is fully opened to ensure flood discharge; the gate is operated by a hydraulic cylinder system. The management and operation bridge combined with traffic is built on the dam. The bridge is 123.5m long, ensuring inner-city traffic according to urban traffic standards, with a design speed of 50km/h. The approach roads at both ends of the bridge are nearly 63 meters long, connecting the traffic system on both sides of the river, connecting with the Southern Ring Road and National Highway 2...

The project started right in the rainy season, the Lo River water level rose high, the weather was rainy and sunny, so the contractor had to temporarily stop construction to ensure safety. In addition, the steep slope on both sides of the river, the weak ground made it difficult to gather machinery, materials and install the transformer station to supply electricity for construction... which affected the project's progress. Therefore, the investor and contractor were always on duty to supervise, working in 3 shifts, increasing modern machinery to reduce labor.

Mr. Hoang Van Hoi, Construction Site Manager said:   “Because of the nature of this project, it can only be constructed during the dry season, from December to April of the lunar calendar, after which the flood comes, so we have mobilized all machinery and human resources to construct, so that the foundation can be completed before the flood. During this time, the weather is favorable, so the workers also work 3 shifts a day, working day and night, including the recent New Year and Lunar New Year holidays.”

According to the report of the Project Management Board of Agricultural and Rural Development Construction Investment and the actual progress on the construction site, up to now, the Project has completed a number of important and most difficult items to construct under the riverbed such as: Foundation, pouring concrete for the energy dissipation yard, the soil barrier for the energy dissipation yard on the left side of the dam; concrete for the upstream yard; completion of the left spillway, the T4 and T3 battery pillars to elevation +98.5; completed the processing of 3 valve slots; completed the free spillway on the left side of the dam; processing, assembling steel reinforcement, formwork, pouring concrete for the valve tower to elevation +102.5 of the T4 and T3 battery pillars; driving steel piles and building the cofferdam phase II and completed the grouting to support the dam body. At the same time, the cofferdam phase I was demolished to clear the flow; digging the dam body foundation phase II; pouring concrete for the dam body foundation pit phase II. For the completed traffic bridge section, 2 abutments M1, M2, bridge pier T3, bridge pier steel T4...

Comrade Nguyen Song Tu, Director of the Provincial Agricultural and Rural Development Project Management Board, said: “This is a key project of the province, which has been closely monitored and directed by the provincial leaders in terms of both progress and quality of the project. This is also a project with a difficult and complicated construction plan, which is being implemented for the first time in our province. Therefore, the Board's leaders are regularly on duty and assign qualified and experienced staff to urge and supervise the construction, not only ensuring progress, but also the quality of the project must be put first. These days, taking advantage of favorable weather, the water level of the Lo River is low and stable, the Investor, the Provincial Agricultural and Rural Development Project Management Board, is focusing on urging contractors to organize construction day and night to speed up the progress of difficult items under the riverbed, ensuring completion before the flood comes, then continue to construct other items that are not affected by the flood. Speeding up the construction progress, at the same time ensure the progress of disbursement of public investment capital assigned by the province".

The dam to create a landscape for Ha Giang city has a total investment of 330 billion VND, including central and local budget capital. The completed project will create a reservoir with a capacity of about 2.2 million m3 of water with a length from the dam to the end point of 5.9 km, the water level will rise about 5m compared to the present. Helps regulate the air, improve the environment, create a river tourism space in the heart of Ha Giang city. At the same time, connecting National Highway 2 with Tuyen Quang - Ha Giang Expressway and belt roads to create momentum for socio-economic development of the province. It is known that to complete this entire project, 505 tons of equipment steel and 2,550 tons of construction steel, 26,670 m3 of concrete will be needed.
