At exactly 5:10 p.m. on November 9, the licensed unit detonated 20 kg of explosives, breaking a rock block weighing more than 50 tons on Cu Hin mountain (section of Phuoc Dong commune, Nha Trang city), about 25 meters from the road to Cam Ranh airport.
Previously, motorists on this road reported that a large rock on the slope of Cu Hin mountain on the way from Nha Trang to Cam Ranh airport was at risk of rolling down, endangering people.
During the survey, Khanh Hoa province authorities determined that the rock could have rolled down.
Mr. Nghiem Xuan Thanh, Secretary of Khanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee, has directed the province's functional agencies to promptly resolve the issue.
On the evening of November 8, Khanh Hoa province temporarily closed the road section through Cu Hin Pass so that authorities could dispatch machinery and manpower to break the rock. However, because the base of the rock is still deep under the ground, it cannot be handled yet.
At around 9:45 p.m. the same day, the agencies agreed to temporarily stop pushing the rock down; leave the machinery in place; and reopen the road to Cam Ranh airport.
On the morning of November 9, after a meeting, Khanh Hoa province agreed to blast and split the above rock block.
In the photo, authorities drilled 13 holes, each 2 meters deep, to stuff explosives inside.

The licensed unit stuffed explosives inside the rock.
At 4:30 p.m., forces removed machinery from the scene to prepare to ignite explosives.
The rock was almost completely destroyed.
At 5:30 p.m. the same day, authorities continued to block the lane from Nha Trang to Cam Ranh airport to clear the rocks that had fallen onto the road.
Authorities said they will try to speed up the cleaning of the road to clear the lane tonight.
