According to Vietnam Railways Corporation , selling Vietnam - China train tickets at all railway stations is a solution to simplify the ticket purchasing process, and create maximum convenience for passengers who need to travel between the two countries by rail.
Previously, from May 25, 2025, Vietnam Railways Corporation officially restored the Vietnam - China international passenger train pair.
In May 2025, there were 183 passengers traveling by international train and the number of passengers increased to 1,323 in June 2025. From July 1 to 16, there were 1,227 passengers traveling by train.
The railway industry expects that the ticket sales network will be expanded to all stations nationwide and immigration procedures will be carried out directly at international railway stations, which will increase the number of international train passengers.
Currently, Vietnam Railways Corporation organizes international passenger train MR1/T8702/Z6, departing from Gia Lam station ( Hanoi ) at 9:20 p.m. every day.
This train runs from Vietnam to China with destinations at Bang Tuong, Chong Zuo stations and the final station is Nanning on a daily basis.
On Tuesdays and Fridays, train tickets are sold to passengers traveling to Guilin North, Hengyang, Changsha, Zhengzhou stations and the final station, Beijing West, in China.
To buy tickets, passengers go directly to any Vietnam Railway station, present their passport and paper visa (valid) to the ticket seller to make the transaction. After completion, passengers will receive a "Receipt of payment" as confirmation.
Then the passenger brings passport, visa and "Receipt" to the departure station to check in and receive "Ticket Book" to board the train.

At the departure station, the railway staff will check the validity of the information and exchange the "Receipt" for a "Ticket Book" (official train ticket for international travel).
The railway industry reminds passengers traveling on the Vietnam - China international train to be present at the departure station at least 1 hour before the train departs to complete the procedure of receiving the "Ticket Book". Vietnam Railways will not handle cases of arriving at the station after the train departs.
Another note is that according to the regulations of the authorities, electronic visas (E-visas) are not valid for exit procedures from Vietnam by rail. Therefore, passengers traveling by intermodal train are required to use a valid paper visa.
