Former Barca and Inter striker Samuel Eto'o, now president of the Cameroon Football Federation, has been accused of match-fixing, intimidation and other crimes by his former subordinates.
According to the Athletic newspaper on January 31, in a document sent to the FIFA Ethics Committee, former vice president of the Cameroon Football Federation, Henry Njalla Quan Junior, accused Eto'o of fixing the match between the academy founded by Eto'o and Kumba City FC. He described the President's actions as "the most scandalous in human history".
Quan Junior also accused Eto'o of fixing promotion for his close associate Valentine Nkwain's Victoria United. Victoria United were promoted after winning 11 of their final 17 games of the season, despite losing four of their first seven.

In addition, Quan Junior also revealed that when the relationship deteriorated, Eto'o sent him a threatening message with the content: "I am the mafia of this revolution. In it, no one betrays their leader. I have protected the interests of our mission. However, if you turn your back, be ready to suffer the consequences."
According to this person, Eto'o also abused his power, spread false information and incited violence. Before the former vice president sent the file to the FIFA Ethics Committee, the Confederation of African Football investigated the allegations of improper behavior by Eto'o and FIFA was asked to remove the former Barca star from his current position.
This is not the first time Eto'o has caused controversy as president of the Cameroon Football Federation. In 2022, while serving as an image ambassador at the World Cup, he was filmed kneeing a man in the face. The fight did not result in serious injuries, but was reported to the Qatari police. Also in 2022, Eto'o was fined and given a 22-month suspended sentence after pleading guilty to tax fraud. The former player also caused controversy when he became an ambassador for a sports betting company, despite his role as president of the national football federation.
Eto'o is the most successful player in Cameroon's football history. The 42-year-old former striker has won three La Liga titles, two Champions Leagues, a treble with Barca, a Serie A title, a Champions League title, a treble with Inter, two African Cups, an Olympic gold medal and a record 56 goals for the national team. In 2021, Eto'o was elected President of the Cameroon Football Federation.
