The Bangkok Post reported that more than 59,000 accounts linked to fraud were removed after Thailand's Anti-Fraud Center, in collaboration with Meta and five international partners, launched a campaign to crack down on cross-border fraud.

The operation took place over five days, from December 8th to 12th, in close cooperation between the Royal Thai Police, Meta, and law enforcement agencies from the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, and Singapore.

Thailand also collaborates with Meta to remove fraudulent accounts and block misleading advertisements.

Police Lieutenant General Jirabhop Bhuridej, Deputy Director of the Cybercrime Prevention Center, said the collaboration with Meta has yielded "record results," including the removal of fake pages and the real-time blocking of 4,000-5,000 false advertisements daily.

Authorities have also identified six suspects linked to fraud gangs operating in Poipet, Cambodia, and expect to arrest them as soon as they arrive in Thailand.

Thailand has stepped up its efforts to combat online fraud recently, being one of the first countries to sign the United Nations Convention against Cybercrime ( Hanoi Convention) last October.

Lieutenant General Jirabhop Bhuridej, Deputy Director of the CSO of Thailand, provided information on the crackdown on high-tech fraud.

At a conference on combating cybercrime and online fraud held in China in November, Lieutenant General Jirapop Phuridej of Thailand proposed the idea of establishing a transnational task force to address the issue of cybercrime.

According to the proposal, the international task force would include six countries: Thailand, China, Vietnam, Cambodia, Myanmar, and Laos.

This force will be empowered to conduct on-site crackdowns on online fraud gangs, and will respond to intelligence within 24 hours through transparent procedures and a shared accountability mechanism. All operations will be regularly reported to the relevant countries.

Thailand arrests four fraud ringleaders who escaped from Cambodia.
