Idol fandom was once considered a "deviant, blind love" of teenagers. However, over time, fandom has gradually shown many positive aspects. "Fandom culture" is increasingly respected. Fandom is a personal hobby, bringing benefits to young people such as improving personal relationships, reducing stress, creating opportunities to participate in volunteer activities...
Spreading fandom culture
If in the past, people only knew how to follow celebrities on TV or text the operator to request their favorite song to be played, now, when social networks are popular, fans have a forum to communicate and exchange seriously. Fandom creates conditions to cultivate precious memories and express the full energy of youth in a healthy way.
Technology development allows for easy connection and the formation of global fandoms with more diverse activities. When people from all over come together through common interests, the foundation for understanding and respect is formed. In addition to the basic meaning of love for stars, the voice of each individual has expanded to many other fields. Doan Thuc (from Dong Nai), an "ARMY" (fandom of BTS), said: "We help and support each other as a community with the same goals and values. When communicating with many people from different countries, I gradually become interested in their music , movies, history, society... This is not only entertainment but also changes the way we see the world".
Fandom activities come from volunteerism and enthusiasm. When there is a clear direction, knowing how to accompany and share together, fandoms have practically contributed to the community. When there is a big event, fandoms often proactively gather, prepare welcoming events and raise funds. The culture of working well with idols has also taken root. Fandoms not only demonstrate affection but also affirm their maturity through valuable actions.

Contribute to society
Many charity projects are carried out under the name of idols. For example, in December 2022, before Ha Anh Tuan's birthday, fans in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City invited each other to... donate blood. This cute story made the male singer very happy when he turned 18. Then, during the "Ranging Horizon" show in February 2023, Ha Anh Tuan announced his support for the program "As if there had never been a separation". His "Friend Club" immediately followed this gesture, donating more to the program. The audience accompanied Ha Anh Tuan not only because of music but also became a small part of a great mission. "When pain awakens compassion and the desire to share protection, that's when sound becomes music" - Ha Anh Tuan wrote on his personal page.
Thank you from the team of "As if there had never been a separation" to singer Ha Anh Tuan and Friendclub
The fandom in Vietnam of Vietnamese-American male idol Hanbin - Ngo Ngoc Hung (member of TEMPEST group) is very active. The project "Building a happy house with Hanbin" has built 2 houses for orphans in Gia Lai and Yen Bai provinces with a total amount of 160 million VND; supported the planting of 1,000 trees in Ben En National Park (Thanh Hoa province); supported surgery costs for children with cleft palates; supported the "Raising children" project; gave lunch to workers in difficult circumstances... This fandom also adopted dolphins and black-footed cats from the International Organization for Conservation of Nature under the name of the idol.
Talking about social activities, we cannot help but mention ELF (Super Junior's fandom). Last August, the summary of the construction of the first house in the charity series "Building a house for you" under the name of Super Junior by VSJ Station - Vietnam ELF fanpage moved fans. This charity house is part of the project "DElight comes in delight" to welcome 2 members Donghae and Eunhyuk to Vietnam. After completing the first house in Kon Tum, VSJ Station - Vietnam ELF fanpage will continue to build the next houses.

In mid-October, singer-actor Choi Si-won came to Vietnam as UNICEF East Asia Pacific Ambassador and met fans again as a member of Super Junior at the WOW K-Music Festival in Ho Chi Minh City. In a series of events welcoming their idol, through the two fanpages Choi Royal and Siwon's Girlfriend, Choi Si-won's fans sent their support to UNICEF Vietnam with the hope of contributing to positive changes for children with him. Misa (living in Ho Chi Minh City), his "hardcore" fan, confided: "As fans, we feel satisfied when our idol works hard and becomes famous, but above all, we feel happy when we become each other's motivation, strive to improve ourselves and contribute to society."
