FIFA finds mastermind of Malaysia's naturalization scandal?

FIFA's investigation into Malaysian football did not stop at confirming the illegal naturalization of players, but also continued to expose those behind the manipulation.

After rejecting the appeal of the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) regarding the player naturalization scandal in early November, FIFA expressed its determination to "get to the bottom" of the case.

Specifically, FIFA has requested a criminal investigation into the incident in five countries related to this naturalization scandal, the home countries of the seven naturalized players.

And according to a source from the Indonesian newspaper Tirto , FIFA has confirmed the first "suspect" in this case. Specifically, it is FAM Secretary General, Mr. Noor Azman Rahman.

According to Tirto newspaper, FIFA's Appeal Committee wrote in a report: "In the immediate future, the investigation will examine the role of FAM General Secretary Azman Rahman and the two FIFA-licensed representatives mentioned in this process - Mr. Nicolas Puppo and Frederico Moraes."

A source from FIFA also revealed to Indonesian media that Secretary General Azman Rahman was identified as "deeply involved" in this naturalization scandal.

Secretary General Azman Rahman was also suspended by FAM to serve the FIFA investigation, when the scandal broke out in late September. Before the media, Mr. Azman Rahman initially blamed "technical factors".

It was also this Secretary General who caused a lot of controversy when he appeared next to Mr. Gianni Infantino, when the FIFA President visited Malaysia in October. Malaysian media later questioned FAM about this.

However, most of the media do not believe that Mr. Azman Rahman is the "mastermind" of the naturalization scandal, considering the position and influence of this General Secretary in the top football world.

Former Malaysian Prime Minister Mohamad Mahathir once declared: "There are people behind this scandal, so powerful that they think they will never be brought to light."

It was under public pressure that FAM had to set up an independent investigation committee headed by the famous former Chief Justice Tun Md Raus Sharif. This investigation committee also set a deadline of December to find those responsible for the citizenship scandal.
