Ford Ranger SUPER DUTY is positioned as a vehicle for customers who need to transport and tow heavy loads in harsh conditions. In the Southeast Asian market, this model will soon be distributed at a "softer" price, thanks to assembly in Thailand. The car will have two body versions in Thailand: single cab (Single Cab Chassis) and 4-door double cab (Double Cab Pick-up), with expected prices ranging from 1.8 to 1.9 million baht (equivalent to about 1.46 billion to 1.54 billion VND).
The overall dimensions of the vehicle are larger than the standard Wildtrak, with a length of 5,470 to 5,644 mm, a width of 2,032 mm and a ground clearance of up to 299 mm. The vehicle is equipped with a double wishbone front suspension with coil springs, and a 4-layer leaf spring rear suspension. The chassis is reinforced with thick steel, increasing rigidity, combined with 3.6 mm thick protective panels to resist impact when operating on terrain. Ranger SUPER DUTY also stands out with a series of off-road support equipment such as front and rear electronic differential locks, new transfer case, Trail Control system, Trail Turn Assist and On-Board Scale.
The disc brake system on all 4 wheels has been upgraded to suit the heavy load. The interior is modernly equipped with 8-way power-adjustable perforated leather seats, dual-zone air conditioning, a 12-inch central touch screen that supports SYNC 4 with wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, a 6-speaker sound system, and an e-Shifter electronic gear lever. The car has an additional 230V 400W AC charging port and rear seat air-conditioning vents. In terms of safety, the car has a series of driver assistance technologies such as blind spot warning, automatic braking when reversing, rear cross-traffic warning, 360-degree camera and Pro-Trailer Backup Assist trailer control support system. Technically, the Ranger SUPER DUTY has a 3.0L V6 turbocharged diesel engine (Lion TDI), producing 210 horsepower and 600 Nm of torque, combined with a 10-speed SelectShift automatic transmission and 4A-4WD full-time 4-wheel drive system. The vehicle meets EURO 6.2 emission standards and is equipped with a DPF particulate filter system.
Notably, the entire chassis, suspension and transmission have been completely redesigned to meet the heavy load capacity. The vehicle has a payload of 2,512 to 2,675 kg, a cargo capacity of up to 1,982 kg and a gross vehicle mass (GVM) of 4.5 tonnes – a significant increase compared to the regular Ranger versions. The maximum towing capacity also reaches 4.5 tons, and the gross combined weight (GCM) is increased to 8 tons. The Ranger SUPER DUTY pickup truck in Thailand will have 6 color options: Absolute Black, Aluminum Silver, Arctic White, Command Grey, Seismic Tan and Traction Green.
