Recently, information from the US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) confirmed that a device with model code SM-F966B - believed to be the international version of the Galaxy Z Fold7 - has officially received certification.
Technical specifications continue to be revealed
Notably, the accompanying documentation shows that the device will use the SM8750 SoC, which is the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy chip, also known commercially as the Snapdragon 8 Elite.
This reinforces previous speculations that the Galaxy Z Fold7 will continue to use Qualcomm's top-of-the-line processor, aiming at the Android flagship segment. In addition, the device is also noted to support many modern connectivity technologies such as 5G, Wi-Fi 7, ultra-wide band (UWB), wireless charging and reverse wireless charging.
FCC certification is usually the final step before a product's official launch, suggesting the Galaxy Z Fold7 will likely be introduced at the upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event, expected to take place in July.
Other leaks suggest that the Galaxy Z Fold7 will feature an 8.2-inch AMOLED display on the inside and a 6.5-inch secondary display on the outside, both of which will support a 120Hz refresh rate.
The camera is also expected to be a highlight with a triple rear camera cluster, including a 200MP main sensor, a 12MP ultra-wide-angle camera, and a 10MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom capability.
The front camera is expected to retain a 10MP resolution on the outer screen and a hidden camera under the inner screen with a 4MP resolution – similar to the previous generation.
The device can use a 4,400mAh battery and pre-install One UI 8.0 interface on Android 16 when sold.
Focus on AI
Along with the hardware, recent teasers from Samsung show that the company is focusing on the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in new devices. The slogan “Ultra Experience is ready to unfold” is accompanied by claims that AI will help optimize image processing and user interaction.
Samsung said it is developing “multimodal” AI features that combine images, voice, and text to improve the device’s ability to understand and respond. However, specific details about the AI features have not been clearly announced.
While current information comes largely from leaks and technical documents, the Galaxy Z Fold7 is expected to be a significant upgrade in Samsung's foldable phone line.
Factors such as strong configuration, camera improvements and AI integration are said to be the focus of this launch.
