The return of programs that once made their mark and a series of new “rookies” especially in the talent competition segment are contributing to “heating up” the television entertainment market. However, the race for quality and audience attraction is always full of challenges.

Acceleration Arena - a bold combination of reality TV and cinema has just officially aired its first episode, opening a dramatic survival journey with the color of "movie within a show". The program's producer representative said: "We are not simply creating a TV game show, but are creating and producing a new entertainment product for the Vietnamese market, combining role-playing - action - cinema for the first time in a reality TV game show." The program also made its mark with impressive technology investments: artificial intelligence (AI), augmented reality (AR), drones and cinematic visual effects.

The formula of inviting stars to participate in TV shows is not new, but never out of date. Because, with a large number of fans, they are the "magnets" that attract attention right from the beginning. The program aims to find and shape a new model of artist - talented, individual, maintaining Vietnamese identity and strong enough to spread in the regional music - entertainment market.

Returning after many years, Dad, where are we going? continues to make its mark with a familiar cast of artists such as Trung Ruoi, Duy Hung, Neko Le. Previously, Our Songs also attracted attention when gathering a series of big names: People's Artist Thanh Lam, Quang Linh, Thu Minh, Ngoc Anh, Thanh Ha... Recently explosive programs such as Anh trai vu ngan cong gai, Chi dep dap gio, Anh trai "say hi" also scored points thanks to a cast of artists from many fields. From the initial attraction, the inner strength of the artists along with the thorough investment in music, stage and visual effects contributed to the success.

The journey to find the "phenomenon"

After the peak of programs such as Vietnam Idol, Vietnam's Got Talent, The Voice, X-Factor or recently Rap Viet, King Of Rap, talent search competitions are showing signs of a strong revival. This comeback is not only reflected in the number of programs, but also in the increasing scale and level of investment. This shows that producers are confident in overcoming post-pandemic difficulties to continue exploiting this potential entertainment market. A clear proof is that recruitment activities are currently taking place vigorously across the country.

All-round Rookie - a new program produced by the same unit as Chi dep dap gio and Anh trai vu ngan cong gai is considered to be the quintessence of the two previous successful formats. The program combines many contents: music competition, reality TV and personal development journey... with the goal of finding outstanding faces to form a new generation idol group.

Talent Rendezvous is currently airing on VTV3 - recalling the golden age of Sao Mai Rendezvous with the goal of finding young singers with outstanding qualities. Programs such as Tinh Ca Xuyen Viet welcome contestants from 16-45 years old, including overseas Vietnamese and foreigners who can sing in Vietnamese. Meanwhile, Broadcasting Station (+84) is preparing to organize castings in many localities such as Ben Tre, Soc Trang, Can Tho, An Giang ... In the field of cinema, Cinema Faces 2025 is also contributing to continuing the dreams and aspirations of hundreds of contestants.

The return of talent shows is a positive sign, however, the eternal problem with talent shows in Vietnam is how to maintain long-term appeal. Despite many innovations, most of the current formats still revolve around the rounds: casting - training - competition - elimination - finding the champion. The story of "from zero to hero" is not always true. In a context where audiences have too many entertainment options, if the show does not make a real impression, it will be difficult to retain viewers.
