Nearly 1,500 union members, youth and workers participated in exchanges and dialogues about employment.

Today, August 29, at the Quang Tri Youth Activity Center, the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs coordinated with the People's Committee of Gio Linh district to organize an exchange and dialogue program on employment for union members, youth (YU) and workers in the district in 2024.

This is an activity to implement the plan to support workers in finding jobs and stabilizing their lives under the National Target Program on Sustainable Poverty Reduction, aiming to contribute to solving the labor supply and demand in the whole province in general and Gio Linh district in particular.

The program was attended by nearly 10 enterprises investing in industrial parks and economic zones in the area; enterprises looking for workers to work abroad and more than 400 youth union members and workers from Trung Giang, Gio Hai, Gio Viet, Gio My, Gio Mai communes and Cua Viet town.

Speaking at the program, Ms. Nguyen Thi Ai Loan, Head of the Department of Labor - Employment, Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs said that along with focusing on socio-economic development, the issue of labor - employment has always been of concern to all levels and sectors from the province to the grassroots. Every year, the whole province has created jobs for more than 12,000 workers.

In 2023 alone, jobs were created for 13,989 workers, reaching 116.6% of the annual plan; of which 2,845 workers went to work abroad, reaching 237% of the annual plan. In 2024, as of August 15, 2024, jobs were created for 10,095 workers, reaching 80.76% of the annual plan. Of which 1,816 workers worked abroad under contracts, reaching 151% of the annual plan.

In Gio Linh district alone, in 2023, new jobs were created for 1,786 workers, reaching 119% of the annual plan, of which 690 people were sent to work abroad, reaching 230% of the plan. In the first 8 months of 2024, jobs were created for 1,233 workers, reaching 82.2% of the annual plan, and 381 people were sent to work abroad under contracts, reaching 150% of the annual plan.

At the program, young union members and workers were informed by businesses about targets, job demands, demand for labor supply in the country and abroad; support policies of the unit for workers; as well as being consulted and having their questions answered related to the industry, profession, workplace, benefits, training process, costs of working abroad under contract...

The program will continue on August 30 at Con Tien Secondary and High School to serve the Youth Union members and workers of the communes: Hai Thai, Gio Son, Linh Hai, Linh Truong, Gio An; on September 12 at Gio Linh District Youth Union to serve the Youth Union members and workers of Gio Linh High School, VocationalEducation and Continuing Education Center, Trung Hai, Trung Son, Phong Binh, Gio Chau, Gio Quang communes, Gio Linh town. It is expected that on this occasion, nearly 1,500 Youth Union members and workers of Gio Linh district will participate in the program.
