Accordingly, the system of machines that filter saltwater into fresh water has a capacity of 6,000 liters of clean water per day, which can provide clean water for nearly 10,000 people in Tan Thuy commune and neighboring communes.
On the same afternoon, in Ham Giang commune (Tra Cu district, Tra Vinh province), Keppel Group cooperated with Tien Phong Newspaper to continue handing over a system of saltwater filtration into fresh water with a capacity of 6,000 liters of clean water/day to nearly 10,000 people in Ham Giang commune and neighboring communes.
Thus, with the above two water filtration systems, nearly 20,000 people in drought and salinity areas in Ben Tre and Tra Vinh provinces will have fresh water to use.
At the handover ceremony, Ms. Tran Thi Minh Chau - Vice Chairman of Tan Thuy Commune People's Committee thanked the sponsor as well as related units for their interest in installing machines to filter salty water into fresh water in the locality.
"This saline water filtration system will help people in Tan Thuy commune and neighboring communes have free water for daily use in the coming time without having to worry about water shortages or having to buy at high prices like in past years," said Ms. Chau.

Mr. Cao Thanh Hien - Vice Chairman of Ham Giang Commune People's Committee said: "The machine that filters salty water into fresh water will greatly contribute to improving the water source to serve the essential needs of people's lives in the commune."
Mr. Hien hopes that people will use water resources as economically as possible to avoid waste, protect the environment and also preserve the water filtration system.
The El Nino phenomenon, which appeared in early June 2023, has made drought and saltwater intrusion increasingly serious, especially in provinces such as Ben Tre and Tra Vinh, two localities in the eastern coastal sub-region of the Mekong Delta.
The above situation affects production as well as the general life of local people, including the lack of fresh water for use during the dry season of 2024. Therefore, providing a system to filter salt water into fresh water for people to use for free at this time is urgent.
