Nearly 900 artists and actors attend the 2025 National Cheo Festival in Bac Ninh

From October 20 to November 2, the 2025 National Cheo Festival took place in Bac Ninh, gathering nearly 900 artists and actors from 11 professional Cheo art troupes.

From October 20 to November 2, the National Cheo Festival will take place at the Bac Ninh Provincial Culture and Exhibition Center, bringing together nearly 900 artists, actors, and musicians from 11 professional Cheo art troupes across the country.

The event is chaired by the Department of Performing Arts (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism), in coordination with the Vietnam Stage Artists Association and the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Bac Ninh province.

Held every three years, the festival is an opportunity to look back on the creative journey of Cheo art troupes across the country – from staging, performing to preserving and promoting traditional values. This is also a prestigious professional playground, honoring groups and individuals who have made many contributions to the development of this unique form of national theater.

This year's festival promises to bring a vibrant atmosphere with 21 carefully prepared plays, vividly reflecting social life, praising the homeland, country and people of Vietnam. The works convey messages about morality, humanity, aspirations for goodness and creative spirit in the integration period. Each performance will bring the audience unique artistic experiences, both imbued with national spirit and expressing contemporary breath.

According to the regulations of the organizing committee, the participating plays must express clear and healthy ideas, in accordance with the Party's policies and guidelines and the State's laws; at the same time, promote the value of beauty, humanity and contribute to the enrichment of Vietnamese cultural identity. Works that explore creativity in acting, music , and stage arts but still maintain the traditional spirit of Cheo will be encouraged.

The Organizing Committee will award Gold and Silver medals to outstanding plays and individual artists, and Excellence Awards to authors, directors, musicians, painters and choreographers with outstanding contributions.
