Alejandro Garnacho's future at Manchester United has officially come to an end. |
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, both the Manchester United board and manager Rúben Amorim agree to let the Argentinian star leave this summer. This is a consequence of a series of simmering tensions between Garnacho and Amorim in recent months, as the 20-year-old winger is no longer part of the Portuguese manager's rebuilding plans.
Despite his young age, Garnacho has made 144 appearances, scoring 26 goals and providing 22 assists for Man United – impressive numbers. However, as the Manchester club undergoes a major overhaul, Garnacho is just one part of a long list of stars preparing to leave Old Trafford, alongside Antony, Jadon Sancho, and Marcus Rashford.
Alongside squad overhauls, MU successfully signed Matheus Cunha from Wolves for £62.5 million and continued their pursuit of Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford – although their £55 million (including add-ons) offer was rejected. The team is also looking for a midfielder, a striker, and possibly a goalkeeper should Andre Onana leave.
Conversely, Garnacho has become a target for several Premier League "big clubs." Journalist Romano revealed that three teams in the league have proactively contacted him to explore the situation. Chelsea is the most prominent name, as the London club has been monitoring Garnacho since January and sees him as a suitable piece for their squad rejuvenation process.
In addition, Bayer Leverkusen has also expressed interest, but financial constraints are considered a major obstacle. Several Serie A teams have also contacted him, but the most likely scenario remains Garnacho continuing his career in the Premier League – albeit in a different Manchester United shirt. The prospect of a former Old Trafford star flourishing in a familiar environment is becoming increasingly likely.
