Jeff Pu, a technology analyst at Haitong Securities, said the starting price of the iPhone 15 Pro Max is likely to be higher than $1,099, which means this year's top-of-the-line iPhone will be more expensive than the previous generation.
The specific reason for the price increase of the iPhone 15 Pro Max is unclear, but in addition to the screen size and battery capacity, rumors say the product will integrate a periscope camera, helping users to capture objects at a very long distance while still maintaining sharpness.
It is likely that the periscope camera will only be present on the iPhone 15 Pro Max, while the iPhone 15 Pro with a 6.1-inch screen will still use a regular telephoto camera due to limited space for component arrangement.
Thanks to the periscope camera, the iPhone 15 Pro Max can support 5-6x optical zoom. According to MacRumors, this is a notable improvement compared to the maximum 3x optical zoom on the iPhone 14 Pro duo.
Similar to previous years, Pu predicts that the iPhone 15 series will go into mass production from August before being launched in September. Apple is said to produce a total of 84 million devices in the second half of this year, with the two Pro models making up the majority.
Rumors say all four iPhone 15 models will feature a USB-C port, Dynamic Island notch, and a curved frame for easier grip.
In terms of hardware, the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus may use the A16 Bionic processor, while the iPhone 15 Pro duo is equipped with the A17 chip for higher performance. The battery capacity on these models is likely to be higher than the predecessor.
According to rumors from 9to5Mac, Apple plans to launch a dark red color for the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max. Meanwhile, the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus are testing new colors including pink, light blue, and mint green.
