Pig price in the North

In the Northern region, the price of live pigs last week generally did not fluctuate much.

Provinces such as Yen Bai, Lao Cai, Hung Yen, Nam Dinh, Thai Nguyen, Phu Tho, Thai Binh, Ha Nam, Vinh Phuc, Hanoi , Ninh Binh and Tuyen Quang all kept prices unchanged compared to last week.

In Bac Giang alone, pork prices have slightly decreased by VND1,000/kg, currently trading at VND68,000/kg. In the remaining provinces in the Northern region, prices are generally at VND67,000 - 68,000/kg.

Pig price in Central Highlands

The Central and Central Highlands regions also recorded a stable trend similar to the North.

Most provinces, including Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Thua Thien Hue, Quang Nam, Quang Ngai, Lam Dong, Dak Lak, Ninh Thuan and Binh Thuan, kept the same price.

The two localities that recorded price decreases were Binh Dinh and Khanh Hoa, both down 1,000 VND/kg, currently trading at 69,000 VND/kg.

Common prices in the region range from 67,000 - 73,000 VND/kg.

In the first months of 2025, the price of live pigs remained high, at times reaching 82,000 VND/kg, a record increase in recent years. This has created a strong motivation for people and livestock businesses to accelerate plans to restore their herds and expand production, increasing income, according to Thanh Hoa newspaper.

As of mid-May 2025, the total pig herd in the province has reached more than 1.28 million, meeting the consumption needs in the province and partly exported to other provinces and cities. To encourage people to restore their pig herds safely and effectively, localities have implemented many mechanisms, encouraging people and businesses to develop large-scale, concentrated pig farms, applying high technology and ensuring biosafety to reduce costs and reduce diseases. In addition, some households and businesses have proactively produced breeding pigs, linked with feed factories to reduce input costs. Along with that, localities are currently focusing on implementing the first vaccination phase in 2025 with the best results. At the same time, strictly implement disease prevention and control, especially in localities at risk of disease outbreaks according to the recommendations of professional sectors.

Pig price in the South

Compared to the other two regions, the southern pig market showed the most obvious stability, as all surveyed localities did not record any price fluctuations during the week.

Specifically, the price of live pigs in Binh Phuoc, Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong and Tay Ninh remained at 73,000 VND/kg.

The level of 74,000 VND/kg was recorded in Dong Nai, Ba Ria - Vung Tau, Dong Thap, Vinh Long, Can Tho, Kien Giang, Hau Giang, Ca Mau, Bac Lieu, Tra Vinh and Soc Trang.

Long An, An Giang, Tien Giang and Ben Tre are the localities with the highest prices in the region, reaching 75,000 VND/kg.
