Gia Lai held a meeting to summarize the grassroots people's council

On the afternoon of April 25, the Standing Committee of the Gia Lai Provincial People's Council held a meeting to summarize the activities of the district and commune-level People's Councils for the 2021-2026 term with the theme "Gia Lai Provincial People's Councils at all levels - Marks of a term, creating development momentum in the new period".

Speaking at the opening of the conference, comrade Ho Van Nien emphasized: “This is a conference of very special significance, not only to look back on the past journey and summarize the activities of the People's Councils at the district and commune levels for the 2021-2026 term, but also an opportunity to exchange and share experiences before we enter a new phase - the phase of implementing the policy of arranging administrative units according to the 2-level government model".

At the conference, delegates focused on discussing three main issues, including: assessing the performance of the People's Councils at all levels of Gia Lai province since the beginning of the term; reviewing the achieved results, promoting strengths and frankly pointing out the remaining limitations in operations; at the same time, proposing solutions to improve the quality of operations of the People's Councils at all levels in the new period; exchanging and discussing further the operational experience of the Standing Committee of the People's Council, the People's Council committees and the People's Council delegates at all levels.

Experiences from practical activities in the 2021-2026 term and from the vivid reality of each locality will be the basis for the provincial People's Council, especially the new commune-level People's Council, to propose specific and feasible tasks and solutions, ensuring smooth and effective operations, in accordance with the actual situation after the end of the district-level People's Council's activities from July 1, 2025.

At the same time, reward collectives and individuals with achievements in the activities of People's Councils at all levels for the 2021-2026 term.

At the conference, there were 38 reports and 73 speeches from the People's Council committees and People's Council delegates on the contents of innovating working methods, fulfilling the role of a local state power agency, ensuring democracy, the rule of law, for the benefit of the people; experience in organizing meetings well, effectively implementing supervision, questioning and deciding on important issues, ensuring the rights and interests of voters and people; being proactive and active in supervision and deciding on important local issues; promoting the role of a "bridge" between the government and the people...

During the past term, the economic development indicators of Gia Lai province all achieved a good growth rate, the growth quality was improved, in which: the economic growth rate (GRDP) is estimated to increase by an average of 6.36%/year. The economic scale is 1.9 times higher than at the beginning of the term. The economic structure continues to shift in the right direction. It is estimated that by the end of 2025, the average GRDP per capita will reach 75.69 million VND; the urbanization rate will reach 30.51%.

Up to now, the whole province has 94/180 communes, reaching 52.22% and 162 villages and hamlets recognized as meeting new rural standards. The socio-economic infrastructure system has received attention for investment and construction, especially the traffic system.

The effectiveness and efficiency of state management by authorities at all levels have been improved; administrative reform, e-government construction, and digital transformation have achieved many positive results.

The socio-cultural field has received attention and achieved many results, social security has been ensured, the epidemic has been controlled; the material and spiritual life of the people has continued to improve significantly; national defense, security, politics, order and social safety have been maintained. This is a common achievement in which there are important contributions from the People's Council and People's Council delegates at all levels.
