Attending the event were President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor - Mr. Nguyen Dinh Khang; leaders of Phu Tho Provincial Party Committee; leaders of the Vietnam Industry and Trade Union; leaders of units under the Ministry; Phu Tho Department of Industry and Trade.
Minister Nguyen Hong Dien spoke to acknowledge and commend the contributions of workers and laborers.
The launching ceremony of Workers' Month and the Month of Action on Occupational Safety and Health in 2025 was held in conjunction with the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025), the 139th anniversary of International Labor Day (May 1, 1886 - May 1, 2025) and the 135th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birthday (May 19, 1890 - May 19, 2025) along with activities to welcome Party congresses at all levels towards the National Congress of the Party.
In 2025, Workers' Month was held with the theme "Vietnamese workers pioneering into a new era" and the Action Month on Occupational Safety and Health with the theme "Strengthening assessment, identifying risks and proactively implementing measures to ensure occupational safety and health at the workplace" affirmed the role, position and contribution of the working class in the cause of national liberation, building and defending the Fatherland.
Speaking at the launching ceremony, comrade Le An Hai - Chairman of the Vietnam Trade Union of Industry and Trade said that the launching ceremony of Workers' Month and Action Month on Occupational Safety and Health in 2025 is an important event, not only honoring the tireless contributions of workers and laborers in the Industry and Trade sector, but also affirming the strong commitment of the leaders of the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Trade Union of Industry and Trade in caring for the lives and protecting the rights of workers, creating a safe and healthy working environment.
Mr. Le An Hai also requested that the Industry Trade Unions at all levels organize activities to promote effectiveness at the unit, which are widely welcomed by union members, workers, civil servants and employees; and are interested and supported by Party committees, authorities and employers with specific activities: (i) Program "Creative workers, confidently entering the new era", (ii) Program "Dialogue in May" and Forum "Party with workers - Workers with the Party", (iii) Program "Thanking workers", (iv) Organizing a peak month for developing union members, establishing grassroots unions; introducing and developing party members and workers, (v) Program "Propaganda, raising awareness of union members and workers".
Appreciating the organization of the launching ceremony of the Workers' Month and the Month of Action on Occupational Safety and Health in 2025 by the Industry and Trade sector, Mr. Nguyen Dinh Khang - President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor said that the program has affirmed its role and protected the legitimate rights of union members and workers. During the Workers' Month and the Month of Action on Occupational Safety and Health, the activities implemented by the Vietnam Trade Union of Industry and Trade were very creative, focusing on workers and workers such as: Organizing health check-ups and consultations for 500 workers; organizing 10 booths of discounted products made in Vietnam and giving out coupons worth 500,000 VND for free purchases to 1,000 workers, sales activities took place from April 27-29, 2025.
Promoting the role of workers and laborers in the new period
Speaking at the ceremony, Minister Nguyen Hong Dien acknowledged and commended the achievements and contributions of trade unions at all levels, union members and workers to the development of the industry and the country in recent times.
The Minister emphasized that the launching and implementation of the Workers' Month and the Month of Action on Occupational Safety and Health according to the policy of the Secretariat, the Decision of the Prime Minister and the direction and guidance of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor - is an annual and important event. The program is chaired by the Trade Union of the Industry and Trade sector, in coordination with agencies, units and enterprises organized widely throughout the sector with many exciting, practical and effective activities to honor and promote the role of workers and laborers in the revolutionary cause of the nation, especially in the period of innovation, industrialization and modernization of the country; at the same time, contributing to raising awareness and responsibility of Party committees, authorities, political systems, business owners and the whole society in caring for, protecting the legitimate and legitimate rights and interests and improving the living and working conditions of union members and laborers; promoting specific solutions and action programs on preventing occupational accidents and diseases; guide and motivate union members and workers, especially the workforce in all types of enterprises, to comply with the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws, strive to overcome difficulties, work creatively and effectively, and actively contribute to the sustainable development of enterprises and the country's economic growth.
To promote the achievements of previous years and continue to improve the quality and effectiveness of the Workers' Month - Month of Action on Occupational Safety and Health in 2025, the Minister requested the Industry and Trade Trade Union together with trade union organizations, union members and workers in the whole Industry to thoroughly grasp and seriously and effectively implement the directives of the President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor; at the same time, focus on performing well the following key tasks:
Firstly, the Trade Union Organization needs to perform well its role as a bridge between the Party, the Government and the workers. Continue to promote and improve the quality of political and ideological education, propaganda and dissemination of the Party's viewpoints, guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws, helping each union member and worker to improve their political awareness and mettle, their sense of law compliance and industrial style, and labor discipline, to meet the increasingly high requirements of industrialization, modernization and international integration, and to be worthy of being the vanguard force of the revolutionary class.
In the immediate future, it is necessary to focus on widely disseminating the purpose, meaning, and specific activities of Workers' Month and the Month of Action on Occupational Safety and Health; proactively coordinate with Party committees, leaders of units and enterprises in implementing policies and legal regulations related to the legitimate rights and interests of workers; support union members and workers to successfully complete assigned tasks, contributing to the successful implementation of the tasks of each agency, unit, enterprise and the entire Industry.
Second, focus on strongly innovating both the organization and content, and methods of trade union activities in the direction of focusing on the grassroots, taking union members and workers as the center; avoiding formality, ostentation and administrativeization, creating positive changes in trade union activities in accordance with the spirit of Resolution 02 of the Politburo and Plan 06 of the Party Executive Committee of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, now the Party Standing Committee of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, on innovating trade union organization and activities in the new situation.
Third, further promote the role and function of representing and protecting the legitimate rights and interests of union members and workers, especially in the non-state enterprise sector. Actively coordinate and implement democratic regulations in agencies and units, contributing to building harmonious, stable and progressive labor relations; at the same time, actively participate in inspecting and supervising the implementation of regimes and policies directly related to union members and workers, especially regarding working conditions, income, social insurance, health insurance, and labor safety. Focus on effectively managing and exploiting existing trade union institutions and developing new institutions to serve the interests of workers; regularly grasp the thoughts, aspirations, difficulties and concerns of workers, and promptly resolve them.
Fourth, strengthen the work of Party building and building and consolidating clean and strong trade union organizations, which are truly the core and center of solidarity and gathering union members. Actively fight against erroneous and hostile viewpoints in the new situation; at the same time, focus on innovating the work of evaluating and classifying trade unions at all levels, ensuring substance and effectiveness; regularly pay attention to training, fostering and building a team of trade union officials, especially key officials and heads of trade union organizations with sufficient qualities, capacity, qualifications and prestige equal to the tasks, meeting the requirements of sustainable development of the Industry in the coming years.
Fifth, in the context of science and technology, innovation, digital transformation and international integration being the main and strongly developing trend, trade union organizations, union members, workers and employees in the whole industry need to promote the spirit of initiative, creativity, vanguard, and take the lead in effectively implementing Resolution 57-NQ/TW of the Politburo on breakthroughs in science and technology development, innovation and digital transformation, Resolution 59/NQ-CP on international integration in the new situation and the Party and State's guidelines and policies on socio-economic development to create a strong qualitative shift in activities, contributing to the successful implementation of the national economic growth target of 8% or more in 2025 and double-digit growth in the following years, creating a solid foundation for the country to enter a new era - the era of national prosperity and prosperity.
On this occasion, the Minister also requested Party committees and leaders of agencies, units and enterprises in the whole Industry to continue to pay attention to leadership and direction; proactively coordinate closely with the Industry Trade Union and grassroots trade union organizations in implementing tasks, creating conditions for trade unions at all levels to operate smoothly and effectively and have stronger and more solid development in the coming time.
Also at the launching ceremony of Workers' Month and Action Month on Occupational Safety and Health in 2025, the Vietnam Trade Union commended and rewarded 40 individuals as "Outstanding Workers of the Industry and Trade Sector" in 2025; awarded 10 "Union Shelters" to 4 units; presented gifts of gratitude to 50 union members and workers in difficult circumstances and those who had occupational accidents. In the coming time, the Vietnam Trade Union will organize gift giving to union members and workers in difficult circumstances and those who had occupational accidents in the Industry; and summarize the Workers' Month and Action Month on Occupational Safety and Health in 2025 in May and June.
On the same day, Minister Nguyen Hong Dien and delegates inspected the production and business line at Lam Thao Superphosphate and Chemical Joint Stock Company. They visited the laundry room for protective clothing of the Life Enterprise and the canteen for shift 3 of the Life Enterprise under the company.
