Observations in An Giang, Dong Thap, Tien Giang , Kien Giang, and Can Tho show that the amount of rice harvested during the summer-autumn season is still small, transactions are sporadic, and prices remain stable. Traders are selective in their purchases, while farmers in some areas are offering prices higher than the market average, preventing a surge in transactions. The market in general is in a state of stagnation, awaiting clearer signals from the next harvest.

Vietnam's rice industry remains confident in the face of global market pressure thanks to its sustainable transformation roadmap.

Export rice prices fell slightly, but Vietnam still leads the market share in the Philippines.

According to the Vietnam Food Association (VFA), export rice prices today, June 25th, recorded a slight decrease. 25% broken rice is currently offered at US$361/ton; 100% broken rice at US$319/ton. 5% broken rice remains at US$386/ton, lower than Thailand (US$394/ton) and Pakistan (US$390/ton), but still higher than the price of similar rice from India (US$379/ton).

In the Philippines, Vietnam's largest rice importing partner, imports exceeded 2 million tons as of June 12th, but the pace has slowed compared to the same period in 2024. Vietnam continues to hold the number one position, supplying over 1.5 million tons of rice, accounting for 75% of the Philippines' total rice imports.

Notably, Myanmar rose to second place with nearly 292,300 tons, surpassing Thailand (113,171 tons), while Pakistan and India supplied 72,841 tons and 19,309 tons respectively. In total, the Philippine Quarantine Agency issued 3,322 SPS permits, allowing for the import of up to 2.82 million tons of rice in the coming period.

Despite expectations of increased domestic rice production due to favorable weather and improved yields, the Philippines is still projected to import approximately 3.8–4 million tons of rice in 2025.

However, according to forecasts from the US Department of Agriculture (USDA), the actual figure could reach 5.4 million tons this year and 5.5 million tons in 2026 due to population growth and the essential role of rice in people's lives. The Philippines is projected to continue to be the world's largest rice importer for many years to come.
