Records in An Giang , Dong Thap, Tien Giang, Kien Giang and Can Tho show that the amount of summer-autumn rice harvested is still small, transactions are sporadic, and prices remain stable. Traders are selective in asking to buy, while farmers in some places are offering prices higher than the average, causing transactions to not explode. The market is generally at a standstill, waiting for clearer signals from the next harvest.

Rice export prices slightly decrease, Vietnam still leads market share in the Philippines
According to the Vietnam Food Association (VFA), the export price of rice today, June 25, recorded a slight decrease. 25% broken rice is currently offered at 361 USD/ton; 100% broken rice is at 319 USD/ton. In particular, 5% broken rice remains at 386 USD/ton, lower than Thailand (394 USD/ton) and Pakistan (390 USD/ton), but still higher than the price of the same type of rice from India (379 USD/ton).
In the Philippines market, Vietnam's largest rice importer, imports as of June 12 exceeded 2 million tons, but the pace has slowed down compared to the same period in 2024. Vietnam continues to hold the number one position, supplying more than 1.5 million tons of rice, accounting for 75% of the Philippines' total rice imports.
Notably, Myanmar rose to second place with nearly 292,300 tons, surpassing Thailand (113,171 tons), while Pakistan and India supplied 72,841 tons and 19,309 tons, respectively. In total, the Philippine Bureau of Quarantine issued 3,322 SPS permits, allowing the import of up to 2.82 million tons of rice in the coming period.
Despite expectations of increased domestic rice production due to favorable weather and improved yields, the Philippines is still expected to import around 3.8–4 million tonnes of rice in 2025.
However, according to the forecast from the US Department of Agriculture (USDA), the actual figure could reach 5.4 million tons this year and 5.5 million tons in 2026 due to the increasing population and the essential role of rice in people's lives. The Philippines is forecast to continue to be the world's largest rice importer for many years to come.
