Summer-autumn rice prices increased slightly

(KGO) - According to the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Kien Giang province, summer-autumn rice prices have tended to increase slightly since the beginning of June until now.

By the end of May, the whole province had sown 230,596 hectares of summer-autumn rice, reaching 83.52% of the plan. To date, localities have harvested 3,675 hectares, with an average yield of 5.48 tons/ha and output of nearly 20,128 tons. The harvested area is concentrated in the districts of Giong Rieng, Tan Hiep, Giang Thanh, Hon Dat, Chau Thanh, Go Quao, U Minh Thuong, Kien Luong and Rach Gia City.

Since it is currently the beginning of the 2025 summer-autumn crop, most of the rice area is in the growth and development stage, so the harvest yield is not much, the price of early summer-autumn rice tends to increase from the beginning of June 2025. The price of some high-quality rice varieties in the first week of June increased slightly, about 200 VND/kg compared to the previous week.

Specifically, the price of OM 5451 rice ranges from 6,200 to 6,400 VND/kg, OM18 is about 6,800 VND/kg, Dai Thom 8 is about 6,800 VND/kg, Nang Hoa 9 is from 6,650 to 6,750 VND/kg...
