Pi Coin has struggled to break above a key resistance level at $0.70. The coin has been on a steep decline recently, losing more than 26% in the past 14 days and more than 80% from its peak on February 26.
Selling pressure is increasing due to large-scale token unlocking
Selling pressure is mounting as the massive token unlock continues. According to data from PiScan, more than 119 million Pi will be released into circulation this month alone, with 1.4 million tokens unlocked on April 11. The rest will continue to be released in batches until the end of the month.
The price plunge has fueled discontent in the Pi Network community. Recently, Pi Network Turkey – the project’s largest community in the region – released a statement strongly criticizing the core development team. They said the development team is operating in a top-down manner, ignoring community feedback and deviating from the original goal of decentralization.
The statement also said that user expectations have now turned into disappointment, due to the project's lack of transparency, frequent delays, and lack of a clear roadmap for the Open Mainnet launch. There are also concerns about unclear financials, vague information about partners, and the absence of real decentralized applications running on the platform.
Some analysts believe that the reason for Pi's price drop is not only due to the token unlocking, but also due to growing doubts about the project's long-term vision and actual effectiveness. As confidence in the ability to build a real Web3 ecosystem gradually fades, the reputation of Pi Network is at risk of being seriously shaken.
