In-depth archaeological exploration and analysis techniques show that these are bronze cauldrons estimated to be about 5,000 years old, belonging to the ancient Maykop culture period in the Caucasus region. To better understand the purpose of these ancient cauldrons, archaeologists from the University of Zurich analyzed the protein residues contained in them. Photo: @University of Zurich.
They discovered that, through the traces of blood proteins, muscle tissue, and milk identified, this shows that people in the Caucasus region 5,000 years ago used these bronze cauldrons to cook deer, sheep, goats, cows, water buffalo, stews, and milk.
