One of the important factors affecting this prospect is demand from the Chinese market. According to data from China Customs, in the first 6 months of 2025, the country increased pepper imports, of which Vietnam was the second largest supplier. Notably, the average export price of pepper from Vietnam to China reached 7,164 USD/ton, significantly higher than that of Indonesia and Brazil, showing the competitive position in terms of quality of Vietnamese pepper in this market.

On August 16, 2025, the domestic pepper market continued its positive upward trend. The average pepper price today reached 141,800 VND/kg, an increase of 1,000 VND compared to the previous day. Notably, this increase occurred simultaneously in all key pepper growing areas, showing a general and sustainable upward trend in prices across the entire market, not just in one area.

The outlook for pepper prices in the coming time is assessed as quite positive, especially for the Vietnamese market. Although world pepper prices are divergent, domestic prices are showing signs of stable growth.

However, the Vietnam Pepper and Spice Association (VPSA) commented that although exports to China have improved, there has not been a clear boom. It is expected that China will continue to increase imports in the last 6 months of the year, but it is unlikely to repeat the massive purchasing level as in 2023 due to price competition from Indonesia. Therefore, Vietnamese businesses need to have flexible pricing strategies and adjust delivery plans in line with demand fluctuations to maintain market share.
