Brazil's total pepper growing area is over 40,000 hectares, a slight increase compared to 2024. The estimated output in 2025 is 85,000 - 90,000 tons, a significant increase compared to 75,000 tons last year.

Brazil has two main harvests: a large crop from November to February (accounting for 70%) and a small crop from July to August (accounting for 30%). This helps ensure that pepper supplies from Brazil are always abundant all year round.

Despite increased production, the Brazilian pepper industry still faces several risks, including Fusarium and Buen diseases on the tree. Traditional processing methods can also affect product quality.

According to the Vietnam Pepper and Spices Association (VPSA), China is Vietnam’s third largest import market. Export volume to this market as of the end of July increased by 36.2% compared to the same period last year.

China is expected to continue to increase imports in the second half of the year, but it is unlikely to repeat the massive purchases seen in 2023. Part of the reason is price competition from Indonesia. This requires Vietnamese businesses to have flexible pricing strategies and delivery in line with fluctuating market demand.

The increase in production in Brazil, along with price competitiveness, could put pressure on world pepper prices, including those of Vietnam. However, as a leading supplier, Vietnam pepper can still maintain its value thanks to its reputation and quality.

To maintain their position in the market, Vietnamese businesses and farmers need to continue investing in quality, diversify export markets and closely monitor fluctuations from competitors such as Brazil and Indonesia.
