World gold price today 5/26/2025 and world gold price fluctuation chart in the past 24 hours
According to Kitco, the world gold price recorded at 2:30 p.m. today, Vietnam time, was 3,328.53 USD/ounce. Today's gold price decreased by 31.42 USD/ounce compared to yesterday. Converted according to the USD exchange rate at Vietcombank (26,090 VND/USD), the world gold price is about 108.61 million VND/tael (excluding taxes and fees). Thus, the price of SJC gold bars is 10.39 million VND/tael higher than the international gold price.
Domestic gold prices fell sharply at the beginning of the week after Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh directed to reduce the gap between domestic and international gold prices to 1-2%. As of the end of last week, the gap was over 10%, so today's sharp drop in gold prices is understandable.
World gold prices started the new week with a downward trend after US President Donald Trump announced the postponement of imposing a 50% tax on goods from the European Union (EU) on June 1 and moved it to July 9, causing a slight decrease in demand for gold.
Spot gold fell 0.94%, while US gold futures lost 1% to $3,333.40. It was a rather quiet trading day as the market reacted to Trump’s decision to delay tariffs, according to UBS analyst Giovanni Staunovo. He also predicted that trading volumes would be lower than usual as US and UK markets were closed for the Memorial Day holiday.
Over the weekend, Mr. Trump announced that he would extend trade negotiations with the EU until July 9, instead of imposing tariffs on June 1. This move caused gold prices to fall slightly, although last week, the precious metal had its strongest increase in 6 weeks due to concerns about tariffs. In particular, Mr. Trump also threatened to impose a 25% tax on iPhones imported into the US, causing further instability in the market.
Against this backdrop, the US dollar weakened, hitting its lowest level in nearly a month. However, many experts remain optimistic about the prospect of gold prices rising in the coming months. Mr. Staunovo predicts that prices could rise back to $3,500 an ounce, while Citi Bank has also raised its gold price forecast to $3,500 due to factors such as tax policy, geopolitical risks and US budget instability.
Silver also fell 0.2% to $33.40 an ounce, while platinum fell 0.8% to $1,085.76. Palladium also lost 0.6%, trading around $987.18. Meanwhile, geopolitical tensions continued as Russia attacked Ukraine for the third night in a row, raising concerns about global security.
